these were good. i used peppercorns for the eyes and didnt use the almonds for beak just formed a little beak myself with the dough. used and egg yolk and brushed it on part of the rolls to make it look like feathers. thanks, cute recipe.edit:i had no problem working with the dough in this recipe but if your dough is to sticky just add a little flour at a time and if its too dry just add a little water, (i use a spray bottle and mist the dough a few times) till it becomes workable for you. adding a little flour or water wont hurt the recipe, i do it all the time.

These turned out perfectly, exactly as I remember them as a kid. The only change was that I used cloves for their eyes. My family and extended family loved them. The consensus was that they were as good as the ones grandma used to make.

This dough is very difficult to work with and the end result is greatly affected by this.
