This past Saturday I went to the downtown Farmer's Market & purchased some fresh Maytag blue cheese (from Newton, IA) -- & my husband says "If you're going to make it fresh, this is the only way to go." It's so popular, most grocers carry the name brand. Great blue cheese comes from happy-grazing Iowa cows!.

Wow, this is awesome. Used Maytag bleu cheese (this is a must). Also thinned a touch with a little whole milk. Only used about 1/2 ther salt called for. Perfect.

This was the BEST blue cheese dressing I've ever had! I followed the recipe to the letter. The dressing barely made it to the salad. My husband and I ate a whole batch on salad during a single meal. Be still my thighs! Thanks, Bill! This is a definite keeper.

Once a week is chicken wing night and we always run out of the blue cheese (even when we ask for extra). I was looking for a recipe that was as good as the blue cheese we get with the wings and I found it with this recipe. Very, very good.

Absolutely delicious! I am very finicky about my blue cheese dressing. I can't stand commercial bottled blue cheese dressing, and hate it when I get one at a restaurant. Now, everything pales in comparison to this dressing. I make it exactly according to the directions, store it in an old mayo jar, and it will keep in the fridge for about a month. I'm never without some now. Thanks Bill!

This is AWESOME! It's soo easy to make and just takes perfect. I used one substitution, I did not have sour cream so I made buttermilk (1 C half & half to 1 tbs vinegar). The consistency was pourable and even with out the blue cheese it tastes great, I think it tastes similar to the Hidden Valley "buttermilk" variety seasoning packet. I know this high in fat, but it's great and I'll never buy store bought again! Ten stars if I could :)

This is quite thick, so I added a touch of half & half to it, but that seemed to dilute the flavor more. And it already seems like it needs more flavor of some kind...maybe more blue cheese flavor and/or a stronger garlic flavor (like from fresh minced garlic, rather than powdered?). PS: This did get better overnight; maybe it needs time for the flavors to meld together.

I'm sorry but I just don't get it. I have made this dressing twice now and it just is not that good. The dressing is too thick and the flavor is muddied by the worchestershire and excessive garlic.

I took the advice of JeannieBeannie a few posts down, and equaled out the sour cream and mayo, since I don't like that "mayo taste". This could indeed be the best bleu cheese dressing out there. I've tested a few in the past week, and this one takes the honors.

I made this at the last minute for a family dinner with out of town guests. It was fabulous after only five minutes and the next day after it chilled overnight... words cannot describe. My family can burn through this dressing like nobody's business. Make sure to use quality blue cheese it really does make a difference!! I really like mine peppery, so I use a whole teaspoon of black pepper. So awesome!
