This sauce is amazing! I read most of the reviews before making this and the only modification I made was using 3/4 of vinegar, omitted the cayenne pepper (didn't have any!) and simmered for 90 minutes since I like my sauces thick. A big thank you to Alan Arthur for sharing this with us!

Maybe it's just me, but I have a fundamental problem with a BBQ sauce recipe that uses 2 cups of Ketchup *AND* 2 cups of tomato sauce. Why not use one or the other? For that matter, one *IS* the other. No?

I was initially looking for a "healthy" type of barbecue sauce. I decided to use all of the ingredients, minus the brown sugar and butter. After the sauce attained the consistency that I wanted, I cooled the sauce off, and added Splenda to taste. I was very pleased with the outcome. This is definitely a recipe that I will try again.

We LOVE this sauce. My family wont use any other BBQ sauce. I use 1 tsp cumin instead of liquid smoke & sometimes add honey to change it up... any way I make it everyone loves it!

Great stuff. I made a big batch and then added different spices to smaller batches to see what would work to give it some extra hotness. We actually liked them all. The entire pot (1 gallon?) was gone in 2 weeks! I will be making this again and again. Note: I did let it simmer for ~2hrs when I was making it.

this was pretty good! it was a little too sweet and tangy for me (i like it a bit more spicy) but my husband loved it. i did omit the celery seed because i didn't have any on hand.

fantastic! the first time i made this my husband told me to stop buying bbq sauce and just make this stuff instead. 2 small changes, i put in about 1/4 of the vinegar that the recipe called for and replaced the rest with blush wine because i have found that vinegar can quickly ruin a good sauce. i also replaced the liquid smoke with whiskey. yum!

I'm from the K.C. area & when it comes to Bar-B-Que we can claim a lot of bragging rights. We have many competitions during the year & of all the sauces I've tried this is the best. Make this recipe, don't change a thing, & you and your guests will be delighted.

I guess I just wasn't that impressed with the sauce. It didn't have that something that I was looking for to differentiate it from store-bought.

I had smoked a Top Sirloin Roast and with the leftovers, I made BBQ beef using this sauce recipe exactly as is. I sliced the roast, added sauce and placed in a 250 degree oven for about two hours.

This was very easy to make. I did not have red wine vinegar so I had to substitute apple cider vinegar and it tasted fine. Its kind of like KC Masterpeice with some yummy vinegar tang to it. I liked this a lot, I used to to make pulled pork sandwiches in the crockpot. Im pretty sure I wont be buying bottled sauce again :)

I am writing this as the ribs are in the oven. It is -20 outside and we will be having AWESOME bbq ribs for dinner. We followed the recipe to the "T" and it is soooo good. I nibbled here and there. So good.

WOW! If you change the serving size to 18 you can use up one 8oz can of tomato sauce and you end up with about 2 cups of BBQ sauce.

This is an amazing bbq sauce. I had boiled some ribs, put them in a crock pot and poured this sauce over the top. I cooked it all day and it was delish!!! Hubby said they are the best ribs and sauce he ever tasted. My company also thought they were excellent. Great sauce!!
