Very sweet and spicy at the same time. I did simmer it for about an hour to thicken it to the consistency that we like. Made this sauce and the "Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce" from this site. We liked this sauce but preferred the Bourbon sauce.

Great sauce. Sweet and Tangy. Not too difficult to make either. I will no longer be buying bottled sauce.

This recipe is awesome! I even used Splenda instead of sugar and it was great! My only sauce from now on. Well worth the effort.

I reduced the recipe to 12 servings, so this may have altered the results. My husband and I thought it was pretty good, but I need to try it again (making a full recipe) before I make a final decision.

I am giving this 5 stars although I omitted the liquid smoke. This recipe is great without it. I also added a dash of cumin. It needed a little longer cooking time to get the consistency I liked.used it on baby back ribs that were marinated over night.

This is the only sauce I make anymore. It is sweet, but not too sweet, and has just enough kick from the spices. It makes a lot of sauce, but do not be tempted to cut the recipe in half. The longer it sits in the fridge after cooking, the better it gets! I use this sauce for everything, but my favorite is on baby back ribs cooked slowly in the oven with Tennessee Rubdown from this site, then on the grill with this sauce. That rub and this sauce together...mmmm...perfection!

This Sauce is amazing. I think it would make an excellent glaze on a steak that was tenderized and seasoned only with salt and pepper and seared. Glaze it the last minute on the grill and you are golden. This would also go amazing with ribs. This is the perfect sauce for drizzling a full rack of ribs in. I want to explain how this sauce tastes. First you get an explosion of sweet - the molasses comes through, but it is not strong and hints of brown sugar. Then you get a bit of zest - the chili pepper, cheyenne pepper, and the pepper itself. The sauce then gets into a somewhat vegetable flavor - you can taste the onion and garlic (but its not strong, its very subtle), but I think that the celery comes through a little bit stronger (which is good). It lastly finishes back with a little sweetness and a hint of heat which I love. This is the perfect blend of sauce, and it will be the only sauce I ever use on any meats. I would put this on burgers, its that good. Shoot, I would drizzle a little a some pizza. I can't rave enough about this sauce. It is amazing. Try it. You probably have most of the ingredients anyway, and you make quite a bit. Seems like about 5 - 6 cups when finished, and should last quite a while if you use it sparingly - though it will disapear in my apartment as I love it. I am going to use it on jerky. I bet, a shot of a high quality single malt or a very good bourbon (stay away from lower quality stuff). It is just so good. I really, can'

Very good, easy recipe that will replace any good familiar name brands, but home made that can be modified to your liking. It's slighty sweeter than I like.

AWESOME!!! My hubby & I made 2 batches - the first we simmered about 25 miniutes, the second about an hour. Both were absolutely delicious, but the second batch was much thicker, which we prefer. Fabulous on baby backs!!!

This was wonderful. I always make my own ketchup & tomato sauce, so used those in this. I omitted the liquid smoke & used ACV in place of the red wine vinegar -- otherwise kept straight to the recipe. This is a much-needed alternative to store-bought. Thank you!
