I'm making this again for the second time. I will never buy BBQ sauce again. I also leave out the salt and add abit more cayenne and it absolutely fits my tastes!!! Highly recommend!

WoW! This is the best Bar-B-Q sauce recipe I have ever come across. Tangy, spicy with a bit of a bite. Absolutely perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for sharing, Alan. It's a fantastic recipe.

My fridge has so much more room now that I've gotten rid of all the other recipes and store bought sauces. This is the ONE!!! Don't bother with anything else.

Excellent Kansas City style barbeque sauce! I did omit the salt because with the ketchup and tomato sauce it had plenty of sodium in it. Other than that, followed to a t. This is definitely better than the bottled sauce at the store and no preservatives!

This recipe is exactly why I LOVE bbq sauce! Next time I am going to make it a bit spicer and add some chipotle seasoning. I used the sauce for grilled bone-in breast halves and it was perfect. Served the chicken with white rice, corn and sauteed zucchini. I definitely recommend this sauce!

I did everythine to the T on this recipe except did 2x as much cayenne pepper. Reason being is that when i had it on low waiting for it to get thicker, I taste tested it and didn't find a bite to it at all.. I like a SMALL amount of bite. when I was done, it was still mild.. Gotta double the cayenne pepper. IMO.. Which I could get it thicker tho.. any advice in that?

Made this straight from the recipe. Good sauce, vinegary-sweet with barely a touch of heat. I like it. I may play with it a bit next batch. I'm in KC and would not call this a "KC sauce". I'm also a smoker, anything that will fit in my stick burner.

Great basic recipe! I never would have thought of using red wine vinegar. I did add a little more brown sugar. Also, for a great southern touch, add a thinly sliced lemon (remove seeds) and one onion cut into eighths and simmer for an hour.

We tried this BBQ sauce and it will be the only one we make from now on. It's thick and delicious! We will probably cut back on the vinegar and add a bit more brown sugar but, all in all, you can't go wrong with this recipe. I'm not a spice lover but this has just the right amount to add a bite to the sauce without being overdone. Thanks for a great recipe!

This is by far the best homemade BBQ sauce I've ever had! The first time I made it it was way too sweet for us, so I cut back a lot on the sugar the next time I made it. Also, I didn't use any liquid smoke. But this is the REAL thing, like the kind you get in the restaurants. Some may want to increase the spices, but for me it was just cutting back on the sugar. Soooo tasty...

This is so tasty! I didn't add liquid smoke because I didn't have any, but still very tasty. I keep a large bottle in my fridge to use on burgers, steaks, chickens, etc. Try it, you'll like it!
