If you are looking for a "pudding" pie - this is NOT it. This is a thick chocolate pie that is so creamy and YUMMY! I was surprised when I poured it into the crust that it set up - but it did and it was GREAT! I am making 2 more this weekend. Thank you Bev, your pie is delicious!

We made this for a family function and because I had so much to do, I had my husband make it. He does not cook, much less bake and with a minimal amount of guidance, it came out beautifully! I use a high quality cocoa powder and this was very chocolatey. I was really hoping there would be some leftovers as most of the family prefer fruit desserts, but all I had was an empty pie plate...no one could believe my husband made it either! Very simple recipe and incredibly good!

Made this for an aunt that requested chocolate pie. I'd never made one before, so I really was nervous. This pie was delicious, and it passed her test! It did take a lot longer than 35-40 minutes to bake until it was not "wobbly" (maybe because I had a casserole baking as well) but it finally got to that point-I thought I'd ruined it because it looked dry, but I put the meringue on anyway and when it was all done, it was beautiful. We ate it while it was still warm, and it was not runny, and it was not dry, just a delicious chocolate pie. I'll be making it again!

Delicious!!!! I was a little nervous about the reviews saying it didn't have much flavor just super sweet, so I added a little more cocoa and vanilla. I also used slightly less than the full 12 oz. of evap milk. It turned out perfectly!!!

This is one of the best and easiest chocolate pies I have ever eaten. We make it with the No Roll Pie Crust II from this site. My 11 year old daughter loves to make this, because it is so simple and everyone loves it. The only change we make is we use 2 - 5 oz cans of evaporated milk instead of the 12 oz can. It always turns out perfectly and there is never any left to take home. Thanks for this wonderful recipe. It's the only chocolate pie we make anymore.

This pie is simply wonderful. It was easy to make and turned out just like a good chocolate pie is supposed to. If you like those quick chocolate pudding style "chocolate pies" then this one isn't for you. This is the real deal. Great pie.

I thought this pie was delicious and so did my family. The filling is much like a Chocolate Chess Pie recipe that I have, but adding the meringue on top, took it up another notch. Also, I have so much trouble making cream pies because the pie crust shrinks up on me when baked first. Baking the filling in the unbaked pie crust worked perfectly. I did not use the meringue recipe attached to this recipe, but substituted it with the Meringue II recipe from this site, which is an excellent recipe too.

Made it tonight and it turned out perfect BUT tastes like BROWNIE MIX. You should eat it with ice cream instead of meringue. I used granulated sugar and the whole 12oz. can evaporated milk.

I only gave this four stars because the texture is a little odd. However, it's delicious. I'm lactose intolerant, so I tried substituting unsweetened almond milk, original, and adding one tbsp cornstarch. Set up beautifully! A dense fudgy chocolate pie, rich and sweet.

This pie was super easy to make and for the most part was a success. It was a bit too sweet for my taste so the next time I make it I'll cut down on the sugar. Overall though I think it's a good recipe.

My family members are chocoholics - so I've made countless chocolate baked goods over the years. I found the chocolate filling bland and uneventful. I was looking for a rich, creamy chocolate filling. This missed the mark.

I skipped the mirangue part. The flavor of the chocolate part was great, but the texture was odd. The edges were like brownies, while the center was like pudding..even after baking it for the full length of time. I could not figure out which texture was the "right" one. After being in the fridge, the pudding-like center set very well and was great.

I followed the recipe down to the letter, and it was WAAAY to sweet! I was looking for something with a similar consistency but not as overpoweringly sweet. Also, when I refrigerated it, it got to about the consistency of concrete-you'll want to let it sit out a little bit before cutting and consuming.

OH DEAR... another favorite pie. VERY, VERY rich. Cut tiny pieces. And we preferred it with homemade whipped cream instead of meringue.

I thought this pie was excellent! The consistency was soft and fudgey, like a good chocolate pie should be! Reminds me of the one my granny used to make. I had to bake quite a bit longer than 40 minutes, but it was worth the wait - and even better the second day!
