Awesome cookie recipe! Did not change a thing to the recipe. The only thing I added was a cinnamon glaze that I drizzled over them - 1 cup sifted confectioners' sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons milk.

The only thing I change when I bake these is I omit the cloves and use golden raisins soaked 10 minutes in hot water and drained. Makes 4 dozen for me. They come out absolutely perfect each and every time!

Yum. I didn't have butter flavored shortening so used regular, they were perfect. The cloves just added that little something to make them the best!

I followed this recipes pretty closely but the cookies came out kinda too soft that they didn't hold together too well. But the taste was really really good I must say. I think next time I will try adding a little more flour and baking soda and bake it a little longer so that they will hold better as some other reviewers have suggested. I prefer a more chewy cookie over a soft cookie. Overall, my cookies turned out good except the fact that they didn't hold too well and were a little too soft for my taste.

These were pretty good. Knowing that the recipe is called "Beth's SPICY Oatmeal Raisin Cookies" I reduced the amounts of cinnamon and cloves, because I didn't want a spicy cookie, just full flavor. The texture was very good. I will definitely make these again.

Pretty good. The texture of the cookie is perfect, but the cloves are a little overpowering. I added extra cinnamon and still couldn't taste it over the cloves. I I would suggest halving the amount of cloves or leaving them out altogether (like the original Quaker recipe).

This is a fantastic cookie! Full of flavor and a great blend of spices. I changed it just slightly to make it a bit healthier. Instead of white flour, I used whole wheat flour. I think the nutty flavor combined with the spices even better than white flour would. I also added 1/2 tsp more cinnamon, quite by accident, but it worked out well. I adjusted the recipe for 4 dozen instead of 3. This created a bit of a problem as it asked for 2 3/4 eggs and I wasn't about to toss 1/4 of an egg. So, I did use 3 eggs. No noticeable difference. I think I'll save this as my "go to" oatmeal raisin cookie!

My husband told me he wouldn't eat these cookies because he hates oatmeal ... I came home to find most of them gone! He now requests these cookies on a regular basis.

Didn't have the cloves so I guess that's what makes them "spicy". But it tasted fantastic nevertheless. :) Thanks for a great recipe!

Amazing. I omitted the raisins (I'm not a fan) and they were still delectable cookies! I too added the extra 1/2 cup of flour, for nice, fluffy cookies.

made a half batch, used dark brown sugar and chocolate chips instead of raisins. Raisins probably would be better--chocolate and cloves not the perfect combo. But fantastic cookies.
