Good cookies, I halved the recipe and added more chips. Also I baked mine on a pizza stone. These cookies are fluffy and a bit cake-like.

This recipe was awesome. I have tried many ccc recipes over the years, but this one is the best I've had in a long time. A classic cookie. Simple and unadorned. The only thing I might try next time is milk chocolate chips, but that's only because my family prefers them over semi-sweet. Thanks for the great recipe. Definitely a keeper!

followed the recipe exactly. I don't know what happened. They ended up really dry and didn't melt at all during baking. They kept their ball shape the entire 10 minutes. The flavor was what I was looking for, but the texture was certainly not. It must be some wierd fluke, but it still didn't turn out for me.

Very yummy! I followed the recipe exactly and was very pleased. I only cooked half and put the rest in the fridge and cooked them the following two days. This recipe makes a bunch of cookies.

These were good cookies coming right out of the oven, but I'm only giving them 3 stars because by the next day, they tasted a bit stale. Chocolate chip cookies don't usually last too long in our house, but I like them to still be tasty the next day. I'll be going back to my old standby recipe.

While the texture is great for these cookies they were very bland I added more vanilla which helped a little, the idea of using kosher salt would probably add to the flavour. I will not be making again.

I've never used shortening in my chocolate cookies before, but after this recipe, I may from now on! Great crispy, chewy cookies!

I am just a novice, and currently have messed up the past 5 desserts I have tried to make, bu these were great! I halved the recipe and made them larger cookies and added about 1/4 cup a more sugar b/c I am a sugar fiend. Everybody loved them and said to please make again. Thank you so much for redeeming me! Haha!

I did not like this recipe. The cookies just did not taste right. These cookies were nice and plump and had a cakelike consistency. The dough was too thick or dry and so the chocolate chips kept falling out(I think the recipe calls for too much flour or something). They had a nice overall appearance but I just did not like the taste. I would definitely recommend the recipe "Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies" from this site. They have a very similar texture but they stay nice and soft and taste way better.

This is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I have ever tried. Followed the recipe exactly--(I omitted the pecans and added 1/2 cup extra chocolate chips). The butter flavored shortening(Crisco) is the key to the wonderful flavor.

This is just what I wanted. A slightly crisp, but chewy cookie that doesn't go flat when baking. I added 1/2 cup of extra chips, but no other changes. They were perfect!! Thanks!

These cookies are amazing, thank you so much. I am not sure how any chocolate chip cookie lover could ever not like these. my two and four year old sneak them all day long. I followed the recipe to the tee they were chewy and soft and soo buttery. Hint you need to get your hands dirty to mix dry and wet and that is the secret to the pefrect cookie.

These were really good....there is no shortening where I am so I made them only with butter....and I used smarties instead of chocolate chips but they were really good!!!! Everyone loved the texture...a smidgin crispy on the bottom and delightfully chewy on the inside...mmmm....this one is a keeper!
