I've made this recipe twice now, and both times it's made fantastic soft-centred cookies. I really like the proportion of flour in the recipe (though another reviewer didn't) -- I'm not a fan of oily, spready chocolate chip cookies. Like most cookie recipes, I find the yield to be much higher than the actual (we all know big cookies are better). I would definitely cut back on the salt by half, especially if you're using salted butter. I may just try adding a bit of oat flour next time to see if I can get them a bit chewier, but overall a big hit with me.

We've tried countless Chocolate Chip Recipies but this one's the best. Easy enough for the kids to make. My son even used it for a Demonstration Speech in college!

As far as taste goes, you can't go wrong with this recipe. My first batch turned out flat as others have mentioned, so I was a bit dissappointed until I tasted them. It certainly did not affect the taste! They were delicious. I added 1cup more flour to the second batch I made for guests and they turned out perfectly. I got nothing but rave reviews!! Excellent recipe!

I made these last night, and I think it's a good basic recipe. Like other reviewers, I used 3/4 c for the white & brown sugar. The only thing I changed was the amount of flour. I had measured out the 3.5 cups, but as I was mixing the batter it became apparent that it was way too much. I think I ended up using about 2.75 cups of flour. The cookies have a wonderful flavor and are nice and chewy - exactly what I wanted in the recipe.

These are the best chocolate chip cookies ever! I have tried many recipies and this is the best one! I just love thick crispy and gooey chocolate chip cookies. I made them to bring on vacation with me. MAKE THIS BATCH! TIP I recommend to let them cool more than a about 75 seconds because I was so tempted I ate a very hot one. oops!

I've been making these for the last 3 years now, and it is an all time favorite of my family and friends! I do cut the sugar down to 3/4 cup. I read some of the reviews mentioned having crumbly dough...but mine doesn't turn out that way. I mix everything, but the chocolate chips and nuts, in the electric mixer. When dough is thoroughly mixed, I add the chips and nuts using a big spatula. Once all mixed, I press the though together in the bowl to look like big playdough. For a perfect, looking cookies, I use a melon baller (looks like a small ice-cream scooper) to scoop them out and place them on the cookie sheet (I use stoneware). Just like little ice-cream scoops, I bake them just like that. They turn out so perfectly! One of my co-workers mentioned they look like Famous Amos cookies...but better! I've tried other CC cookie recipes, but this one is the one I get many great compliments with. Hopefully this will help some of the reviewers. "Happy baking!"

These cookies are wonderful! I used the suggestion to cut the sugars each back to 3/4 cup, and they turned out perfect! Not overly sweet, moist and very yummy! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

I've been making this recipe for a few years now, and I'm famous for these cookies!! Only, I have recently cut down the sugar to 3/4 cup each brown and white, and I like the texture better-- not so grainy.

I finally found a GREAT recipe! I did not have butter flavored shortening, but regular seemd to turn out just fine. I also used walnuts instead of pecans. These came out soft & chewy out of the oven. I found they did need to be tightly wrapped, or they became a bit more crunchy, but still very tasty! I just prefer a softer cookie! This recipe will now be a STAPLE in my house! These lasted ONE day in my house!I am going to wrap these up for teacher gifts next week!!!
