Great recipe. I also lowered the amount of sugar to about a cup and a quarter. Six lemons was more than enough for a gallon. Great for the start of summer!

I followed the lemonade portion of this recipe to the tea. I did blend up strawberries and added that to it too, it was AMAZING! My family even wanted to go and buy more lemons so I could make more!!!

This really is the best lemonade ever! It taste just like the famous hot dog on a stick kind. My husband & I enjoyed making it together and it was perfect as a summer treat...sent the recipe to family & friends too. I added a little ice to the syrup once room temp to speed the process along. I also put the lemon juice, water, and syrup in the freezer to chill. We went from lemons to sipping lemonade in about 45 mins this way.

I made this yesterday for my dad who is very picky and he absolutely loved it! The only thing I did a little different was add 1 1/4 cup sugar so it wasn't so sweet. I will make this again and make frozen pops for the kids. Thanks

Jo, I just finished making your lemonade. If I could rate it 10 stars I would! From start to finish I was done in 10 minutes (using an electric juicer to accomplish that). Another viewer stated that she cut the sugar to one cup. Knowing you can add & not take away, I started with 1 cup simple syrup in fear it would be too sweet. Well, as the saying goes "Don't mess with perfection", I added the rest of the 3/4 cup simple syrup and VOILA! The perfect blend of sweet and tart. This truly is the "Best Lemonade Ever". It took me back 45 years to my front yard with my 1 cent lemonade stand! Thank you for the memories and taking the time to post your recipe.

Delicious! I used bottled juice (I know, I know...but it's what I had in the house) and it was still awesome! I can't wait to try it with some crushed blueberries or with lime juice.

Easy and delicious. I used my potato ricer to juice the lemons and only needed to use 5 of them. Adopting a childhood tradition, I also sliced up an orange (gave it a little squeeze over the pitcher) and threw the entire thing in. Thanks for a great recipe!

This is truly the best lemonade ever! I loved it, I only added 1 1/4 cup of sugar which is the way I like my lemonade however next time I'll have to add more sugar for the hubby it was to tart for him that way. I followed the directions that someone had said and let it soak in hot water for 10 mins. and then roll out on counter before squeezing and I thought that worked really good, it didn't take that long to juice the lemons. It took 7 lemons for mine to equal the 1 1/2 c juice. This will be a new tradition at my house every summer, it will be made many many times. Thanks Jo!

Yum! The perfect summertime drink! It took a lot of lemons and a lot of work since I don't have a juicer but it was sooo worth it.

Mmmmm.... perfect! I've never made lemonade before and the whole family loved this! I made the sugar mix with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup Splenda with 1 cup water. Plenty sweet. could even cut the sugar back a bit more and it would be fine. Definitely worth the extra time and effort. I followed another reviewers advice and let the lemons sit in hot water for 10 minutes, rolled them on the counter, then squeezed them. Even the kids helped. Thank you!

I follow another reviewer's advice and microwave the sugar and water for approximately 1 minute in the microwave and cool with ice. I use 1.25 cups of sugar since I like my lemonade tart, and 1.5 cups of a nice bottled lemon juice from Costco. I add water to taste until it's just right.
