This recipe was delicious. I only gave it 4 stars because it was a bit sweeter than I prefer. I made this for a cookout and several guests commented that they prefer lemonade to be a bit more sour. I will definitely try this again, but next time I will try to modify so that it isn't quite so sweet.

Wow! I'd never had homemade lemonade and made this recipe on a lark - this is so good, I can't stop drinking it! Used 1 and a quarter cups sugar and it is juuuust right for us. I was too antsy to wait for the simple syrup to cool - just added the whole shebang and added some ice cubes to our glasses. We squeezed the lemons by hand because we have no juicer and it wasn't very hard or time consuming. Thanks a million!

The best lemonade I have ever tried. I used a little less sugar than called for and strawberries too. When I was boiling the sugar water I grabbed 6-7 strawberries and mashed them up before dropping them in the sugar water. Let it froth up a bit before chilling. Adds a great strawberry flavor to it and could work with any other berry too.

I just taught Vacation Bible School and we taught 85 children how to make this lemonade to raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand (Children Cancer Research). I made the syrup in advance, 1 1/4 cup of sugar to 1 cup of water. The children had a blast squeezing the lemons with an old fashioned Rival lemon squeezer. They added their squeezed juice to the pitcher of 7 cups of water and 1 1/4 of syrup. We raised over $225.00 at .50 a glass. Thank you for a fabulous recipe that adults and children, alike, will drink!

We have two lemon trees in our back yard and this was perfect for a summer drink. Its so versatile too - I followed the exact recipe and was very pleased with the outcome. You could easily add more lemon juice and water if you wished to water it down or create a more tart version - but I enjoyed both the sweet and then tart taste that this produced!

This is a great standard. I just poured the juice and the simple syrup over a whole lotta ice and topped it off with cold water to equal about three quarts. My husband said, "Well, there's our summer drink."

Great lemonade. Easy, too. To keep it from being too sweet, I just followed another's suggestion and reserved a lot of the sugar syrup so folks could add it to their liking. No leftovers. Make a double batch if you've got more than 4 adults partaking!

Made this for a bridal shower and was good. I needed 2 lbs of lemons to make the juice. I used a citrus press and worked well.

This lemonade is AMAZING! It was just how I like it. I did take the advice of other reviewers and use only 1 and 1/4 cup of sugar. I like my lemonade more tart then sweet! I used about 9 lemons to create the 1.5 cups of juice. It was a lot of squeezing... but WELL WORTH TI!

Tastes great! I found that it is much easier to boil equal parts sugar and equal parts water (1 3/4c each) to make a simple syrup, then add the cooled syrup to the lemon juice and remaining water (6 1/4c). This cuts down on the time to bring it to a boil and on the cooling time!

This really is worth the extra work to make the syrup base. I also used only 1 1/4 C sugar and it created what was in my mind the perfect balance of sweet and tart with beginning and aftertastes. The tip to soak the lemons in warm water and roll them firmly before slicing and juicing does a great job maximizing the juice you can get from one lemon. This will be a big hit this summer!

I loved this! My dad gave me some Meyer's lemons from one of his trees that were like, hours from turning and I made them into this lemonade. Had to drink it quick, but that wasn't a problem. :)
