My husband said this is the best banana bread he has ever eaten. That's quite a compliment! I think it's the buttermilk that keeps it moist and flavorful. It has become my new best banana bread recipe.

So so good and really light and fluffy; not dense and dry like most banana bread recipes. I even made a mistake and switched the measurements for the oil and half and half (which I subbed for the buttermilk) and it was delicious! I used 3 bananas, omitted the nuts because I didn't have any and baked two 8x4 loaves at 325 for 45 minutes. I think I can throw out my other banana bread recipes now because I'm not going to need them!

I've made this several times. Also, when I made this, I didn't have any measuring cups (just moved country) so had to guess. Apparently, guessing helps, as the bread was so moist and delicious! I purposefully buy bananas to go brown so I can make this bread. My brother in law, who says the only banana bread that is good is his grandmother's (she passed away 6 years ago) and he said he LOVES this bread. I followed the recipe, except I added vanilla (1-2 tsps) and also coated the greased pan with sugar. Absolutely perfect! I did find that it took less time to cook it, but that might be my oven and low altitude. I definitely recommend this recipe!

I found this way too sweet and not flavourful enough...try Nanna's Banana bread from this site instead!

I am sitting here munching on a slice now. Fresh out the oven...cooling on the rack & I just had to try a taste! WOW!! OMG WOW!!!! Used home made applesauce from this site instead of oil and added a 1/4 tsp of van. This is WOW!

Loved it! It was easy. Great flavor! Came out super moist. I do wrap my bread in plastic wrap as soon as I pull it out of the pan. I find that is makes the outer crust very moist. We will keep making this one.

I put the pecans on top mixed with some brown sugar as I don't like nuts throughout the bread. So good! It really is the best banana bread I've ever had!

Very good recipe. Per other readers suggestions, I added the nut topping instead of nuts in the batter and an extra banana making it very moist. I used part brown/part white sugar. Not sure I'd do that again as it made the bread a darker brown and I had to explain to the kids that it's just darker in color and no it wasn't burnt. Kids!!

Excellent! Very moist and delicious. I used two bananas since I'm not sure how much a cup would actually be. This will be my go-to recipe for banana bread from now on.

It was fine - but too sweet and not as heavy and banana-y as I like. More like a cake feel.

What a fantastic recipe! The only substitution I made was unsweetened applesauce instead of the oil. Very moist bread without being overly sweet.

This was an awesomely easy recipe. I did follow some of the modifications. I added a 1/2 cup of brown sugar with the cup of sugar with a touch of cinnamon.

Not what I would think of as a traditional banana bread with the changes many recommend, but its very good. I did the recommended 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar, subbed apple sauce for oil, sprinkle of cinnamon, and a tiny bit of vanilla. Its so good!

I've made this twice now - VERY DELICIOUS!!! HOWEVER - It DOES need VANILLA! (teaspoon?) I also sprinkle nutmeg into the "dry" mixture portion. The suggestion of sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on a greased baking pan its BRILLIANT! Sprinkle it on top too.... Makes a delicious caramelized crust. YUM!!! COMPLIMENTS EVERY TIME!

Suggestion: Add thin slices of banana to the top before baking for extra caramelised banana flavor and a great look! Wonderfully light textured, flavourful and lightly moist. I put in a teaspoon of baking powder plus 1/2 tsp of baking soda as I didn't want to taste any soda. I added 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder and half a cup of chopped walnuts. I used half cup of raw sugar + 1 tbs brown sugar and semi-melted butter.

Brought the results of this recipe into work today and the 3 recipients hit me up for the recipe. I followed it to the T and they said it was the MOST MOIST banana bread they've ever had. One co-worker has been baking for many years and said in her attempts at banana bread, she has never been able to produce one this good. And I'm a novice cook.

I've made a lot of banana breads but this one takes the cake! So perfectly moist with a nice chewy crust. I followed others' advice and substituted 1/2 applesauce in place of oil, used whole wheat flour, added a little vanilla and left out the nuts--- Divine!
