This is now my standard Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. I add the 1/2 tsp. of cream of tartar, because I like pretty cookies, but sometimes I don't add it and they're still great.

These were your standard chocolate chip cookies, I would not say BEST, they seem to come out too greasy-- so maybe decrease the butter. I won't be coming back to try this one again on this site, so if that tells you anything..

I, like many others, have definitely made my share of chocolate chip cookies, and these are fantastic. My family likes a light cookie, crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. I made the same old recipe for years, but it wasn't always consistant. Sometimes they would turn out tasting too much like flour, and really thick, and sometimes too "cake" like in texture. After reading many reviews, I did follow some other users suggestions, and used 1 1/2 c. brown sugar and 1/2 c. of white sugar, I added the 1/2 t. cream of tartar, and decreased to 2 1/2 c. flour. The original recipe may be great as well, but I wanted to get something very different than what I normally use. I used a cookie scoop, and they came out perfect. They taste and look like they came from a bakery. If you substitued the chips with chunks, they would definitely be like a gourmet cookie from a fancy hotel. Awesome recipe!

I love this cookie and make it all the time! (For the best result use completely softened butter.) My husband and brother-in-law both rave about this being the best cookie they've ever had. We've found that they are the best fully cooled and even taste great refrigerated (wierd I know).

This is a reliable recipe. I often have issues with my chocolate chip cookies going flat and the flavor is sometimes a little off. Not with these. The texture is perfect, so is the flavor. I freeze whatever I don't need so whenever I'm craving some I can just pop a cookie in the oven. Thanks Dora, I won't be following the recipe on the Chocolate Chip packages anymore.

sugar free/dairy free/nut free version: i used 1 c oil (soybean) instead of butter; 1/2 c agave nectar instead of sugar; 2 c flour and 1.5 c quick oats; 1.5 t salt (b/c the oil is not salty like butter); 1 c sunflower seeds instead of walnuts; baked at 325 for 12 min - awesome!!!!

I followed the suggestion of one reviewer and added a half tsp of cream of tartar. it did make the cookies look more appealing. however, the taste and texture was not the one i was looking for.

My mom makes a killer chocolate chip cookie, but these have her beat. (Sorry mom!) This recipe comes out perfect every time. I always stick a few extra chocolate chips on the top after they are in balls because they look prettier. In my opinion, the ideal bake time is nine minutes. Make sure you place on a cooling rack after three minutes or they will continue baking.

I found this one a while back and its now the only chocolate chip cookies i make. I get rave reviews every time i make them. Ive tried so many other recipes and none of them can stack up to this. I Follow the directions completely except leaving out the extra vanilla. I found if you let them cook for the entire time it says, they turn out cakey (which i love) But if your more of a gooey softer cookie lover just take them out earlier.
