This is a "no fail" bread machine recipe. I followed the recipe exactly and it was an all around great bread. You can slice it thin and it still holds up because of the consistent texture. I will use this bread recipe for company also. Hint: If you wrap the loaf in clear plastic wrap the outside gets a little softer.

This recipe was great!!! I produced a very soft and moist white bread that was easy to cut. It sort of reminded me of the Amish White Bread recipe on this site. Next time I may try to sub some whole wheat flour to make it healthier.

This is a perfect recipe and is now a staple in our house. The only change I made was the suggestion to increase the salt to 1.5 tsp.

I love this recipe. I gave it to my daughter and she and her family love it also. We always use the dough cycle on our bread machines and make rolls. The only changes we make is to add a dash of honey and 2 Tablespoons of parmesan cheese and increase salt to 1 1/2 teaspoon. This is the only bread recipe we use. Thank you for the delicious recipe.

I got a bread machine a year ago, but after making a very disappointing recipe out of the owner's manual, the bread machine was left forgotten on the counter. This recipe changed all that! I've made two loaves over the past week. I love it!

This recipe is pretty good as is. The second time I make it I added 3 tablespoons of honey and instead of the 3 cups of bread flour I used 2 1/2 cups white flour and 1/2 cup whole wheat.

This recipe is wonderful! The first time I made it I did not follow the instructions, in terms of mixing the yeast with the water first. I did what my bread machine instruction booklet said: ALWAYS ADD THE YEAST AT THE END. HOWEVER... When making this a second time I followed the exact instructions of the recipe and it turned out even better! Definitely mix the yeast with the water prior to adding the other ingredients. Thanks!

Amazing recipe that produces close to store bought bread as possible (that I have found). Please try this one, you will not be disappointed. If you find a better one, please let me know.

I nearly passed up this recipe because the idea of dissolving the yeast in the pan of a bread machine seemed absurd. I never realized how perfect a loaf could come out of my machine until I tried it. Pillowy soft, flaky crust, it rised to the top of the pan too.

This is AMAZING!!! The bread is so soft and the texture is PERFECT! I used all whole wheat flour, unsweetened applesauce instead of the oil, and I also took IcyBlueRose's advice about increasing the yeast and salt. I made the dough in the breadmaker, but baked it in the oven. I doubled the recipe and it made two of the best loaves of bread I have ever tasted. Give this a try! You won't regret it! (and you probably won't buy storebought bread ever again)

Delicious flavor but did not rise right. I followed the directions to the letter: exact measurements, fresh yeast that bubbled, warm water, but the loaf appeared to rise and then fall hard. The crust was crunchy and hard. The inside tasted good but needed a little more salt. My bread machine manual DID warn that yeast is never to touch liquid, but so many gave positive reviews that I tried to do it as written. May try again putting ingredients in different order.

Used the dough cycle and then took it out and baked it. It's a little dense, but not unpleasantly so. Very delicious, excellent flavor.

Very good. I generally don't like bread baked in my bread machine -- I always use the dough cycle, then take it out and finish it in the oven -- but I thought I would give this a try. It was good, but I still think some of the other recipes I have tried are a tad better.

I love that this recipe produces a bread that doesn't crumble when you cut or hold! It's actually springy like grocery store bread. That and the fact that it's the only bread machine bread I've ever made to not be super crumbly - I'm off grocery store bread permanently!

This is, as someone else said, the best bread to come out of my bread machine. I took it out of the machine before the last rise and put it in a nonstick bread pan and it made a perfect loaf. Another time, I used olive oil for the oil and made the perfect pizza crust. Good stuff!

Simple recipe that tastes terrific. It's a good everyday loaf, easily sliced for sandwiches. I have made it at least 10 times now, and it is good as is, or with whole wheat flour substituted for 1/2-1 cup of the flour. Thanks for sharing this terrific recipe.
