When my 6 year old eats half the loaf I have to give it 5 stars. I did follow the advise of others and added 1.5 tea salt. It is the best bread recipe I have found and I have been cooking bread for 15 years. Soft with a flaky crust just like they said. Thank you Diggetydog so much.

I have been making bread machine bread for 15 years and this recipe, without a doubt, is the most reliable and produces the best loaf of bread we have ever experienced with a bread machine. Texture, color, taste- all as good as or better than the bake shop down the street. We are now enjoying our 6th loaf with this recipe and every one of them was a winner.

I followed some helpful suggestions: I increased the sugar to 3 tbs, reduced the yeast to 2 tsp. I used all-purpose flour and it still turned out wonderfully. I thought my first try with a new bread machine (and no instruction manual!) would be a disaster and instead, it was a great experience. Looking forward to making french toast tomorrow with the remainder of my loaf!

This recipe was my first attempt at ever using a bread machine. Turned out good! I did increase the salt a tad. Yummy!

Made the recipe exactly how the recipe said to, except used regular flour instead of bread flour and it still turned out great. Thanks!

I made this bread to use for making grilled cheese sandwiches. It came out wonderful. The center of the bread was very moist and soft - a nice change from most white bread recipes I have made in the past. This would make great toast!

Amazingly delicious! The bread didn't get stuck in my pan at all! I used whole wheat flour for the 1 of the cups of flour and I can't even tell! I think I'll be making this alot!

I'm not sure why but it kind of sunk down on top. I felt like there was something missing also, like it needed more salt but that may have just been me. My husband loved it!

Wish that I could give this more than five stars. I've tried so many recipes that just fall flat. This one rose to the top of the bread pan and was delicious!!!!

This is a "no fail" bread machine recipe. I followed the recipe exactly and it was an all around great bread. You can slice it thin and it still holds up because of the consistent texture. I will use this bread recipe for company also. Hint: If you wrap the loaf in clear plastic wrap the outside gets a little softer.

This recipe was great!!! I produced a very soft and moist white bread that was easy to cut. It sort of reminded me of the Amish White Bread recipe on this site. Next time I may try to sub some whole wheat flour to make it healthier.

This is a perfect recipe and is now a staple in our house. The only change I made was the suggestion to increase the salt to 1.5 tsp.

I love this recipe. I gave it to my daughter and she and her family love it also. We always use the dough cycle on our bread machines and make rolls. The only changes we make is to add a dash of honey and 2 Tablespoons of parmesan cheese and increase salt to 1 1/2 teaspoon. This is the only bread recipe we use. Thank you for the delicious recipe.

I got a bread machine a year ago, but after making a very disappointing recipe out of the owner's manual, the bread machine was left forgotten on the counter. This recipe changed all that! I've made two loaves over the past week. I love it!

This recipe is pretty good as is. The second time I make it I added 3 tablespoons of honey and instead of the 3 cups of bread flour I used 2 1/2 cups white flour and 1/2 cup whole wheat.

This recipe is wonderful! The first time I made it I did not follow the instructions, in terms of mixing the yeast with the water first. I did what my bread machine instruction booklet said: ALWAYS ADD THE YEAST AT THE END. HOWEVER... When making this a second time I followed the exact instructions of the recipe and it turned out even better! Definitely mix the yeast with the water prior to adding the other ingredients. Thanks!
