This bread is great. I've tried several different recipes since I received my bread machine and this was the best. I was concerned about the yeast being put in first with the water since it contradicted my machine's instructions, but the bread was the best I've made so far. This will be made often.

I make this about twice a week for our sandwich loafs. Make the dough in the bread machine, but finish it off in the oven. If you do this, cut a slit down the center and allow the dough to rise in bread pan for 40 minutes. I brush with milk and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Also I put a cake pan filled with water underneath the bread as it bakes. Perfect every time. I've also used the dough to make rolls (was pretty good that way, but much better as loaf)

Unbelievable! I am both astounded and thrilled to death! My first loaf of bread from this recipe came out of my machine about half an hour ago...and I LOVE it!! I had a bread machine years ago, and gave it away because no one wanted to eat the heavy, tough and dense bread that came out of it. I recently bought another machine because the closest grocery store is 45 minutes away AND I had found this recipe and it gave me hope that not all bread machine bread is tough and chewy. This recipe tastes NOTHING like others I have tried. I am sooo excited!! I was concerned about the over-rising of the bread, so I did add 1/2 tsp. salt to keep that from happening. I love the smell, the flavor, the crisp crust, the wonderful soft insides. It's not the least bit tough!! I am soooo excited! Thank You!!!!

If you're on the fence... try this recipe. Everyone is right. You cannot mess it up. I did not have Bread Flour... I used AP... and it came out great. I didn't use vegetable oil, I went with olive oil. I also followed the lead of so many of the reviewers, I added an extra 1/2 tsp of salt. If you're wondering, this is not a dense textured bread. It is very soft. It's almost Brioche like. I know it will become a regular at my house.

Love it!!!! Make sure you add an additional 1/2tsp of salt. It helps keep the bread raised instead of deflated.

This recipe was wonderful! I did make a few changes to our liking...I used 2 cups regular flour & 1 cup whole wheat flour, turbinado sugar & canola oil. I mixed the dough in my bread machine, then shaped into rolls.(I've just about worn my bread machine out-the bake cycle no longer works:) The rolls rose beautifully and tasted like heaven! My family couldn't get enough of the bread. This recipe is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic recipe! Goes against what I've always done to make bread, but comes out perfectly every time. Sometimes I substitute 1 cup of whole wheat flour, as my family prefers wheat to white bread. I use the 1 lb setting and light crust on my bread machine.

This bread is absolutely delicious. I love that taste you get when you make a hearty loaf of bread or homemade rolls. My husband likes it also - but when it comes to sandwiches for his lunch or grilled cheese he likes the taste of regular store bought white bread. I've searched long and far and this is the first recipe I've found that gives us both. I like it warm because I know it's fresh home baked but it has such a light flavor it really truly reminds me of white bread you buy at the store. I haven't changed the recipe at all, although I might try to replace some of the white flour with whole wheat the next time I make it. This recipes is a staple at our house now and I love how simple it is. There are no special ingredients and no special prep. Thanks!

The reviews say it all. Foolproof and delicious. I did take another reviewers advice and use 1.5 tsp of salt and it turned out great. So simple and uses stuff you always have in your pantry.

I thought this was pretty good, but my boyfriend loved it. I should have baked the bread in the oven because my bread machine makes a funky looking shape of bread. Other than that, I would definitely make this again for him. For me, I still prefer the amish breads on this site. P.S. it was my first time using my bread machine too.

I normally don't use my bread machine, except to make the bagels on this site. I have never liked bread machine bread...until now! I upped the salt to 1.5 tsp, and since I had run out of oil, I used a couple of Tbs. (or thereabouts)of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. This is to die for. The crust was so light and flaky, and the bread so moist. I can hardly believe it came from my machine. Now after 10 years of marriage I will put it to more use.
