This recipe is a fast and easy remedy for plain black beans from a can. It had a nice heat, and the fresh onions and cilantro brightened the taste. I followed the recipe exactly. I still like the long way better, but I don't always have the time! Thanks for the idea!

I should preface my review by stating I've never really eaten *just* black beans before. I think I've had them once, many moons ago, at a Chili's (and thought they were ok), so I really had no expectations. These are great! It's hard to believe canned black beans doctored up so minimally can taste so good. The only sub I made was to sub parsley for cilantro per personal preference (fellow cilantro haters, this is a great sub!). I served this w/"Mushroom and Goat Cheese Quesadillas" from here for a wonderful (meatless!) meal. THANKS, for the recipe!

A versatile basic recipe. I added a small can of mild chopped pepper, along with a teaspoon of whole cumin seed. It is even better the next day, so make twice as much as you might need.

These were pretty good. I used Busch's reduced-sodium black beans and didn't add any extra salt. Make sure not to drain the beans, or the garlic and onions will not have liquid to cook in. I cut the onions small, but still added an additional 2 minutes to the cook time to make sure they were completely softened. I also let it sit for about 10 minutes off the heat which helped too. Very quick recipe.

Wonderful. Quick, simple and tasty. Followed the advice of washing the beans first and then using broth, and also added the 1T fresh lime juice. A meal on its own. My husband loved it and will definitely be making this again.
