These truly are DELICIOUS. I saw some people said they came out "cakey", but they weren't at ALL - they were SOOOOO good. I think they were one of (if not the) best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. My husband said they're just as good as the specialty cookie places. They were slightly crisp, but so chewy and just.... amazing! I made 6 of them (that's all the fits on one baking sheet), and will have enough for 2 more batches. I put the remaining dough in the fridge for tonight and the next night. This will be my go-to recipe, and is sooooo much better than the refrigerated dough in the tubs. Try it, you won't regret it!!! PS - Don't forget to use one full egg, and one egg yolk. Maybe some people are using the full egg, rather than just the yolk, and that's why it's coming out so "cakey"

i thought these were a bit sweet, but i was the only one. EVERY SINGLE OTHER PERSON i have made these for have said they're the best chocolate chip cookies ever. and they love that they're huge, especially my kids who usually only get one cookie at a sitting. :) definitely follow directions, they come out perfectly.

Yum! Followed exactly. I finally have a chocolate chip recipe after trying many others, and lo and behold it is an EASY one, too. I used 2 eggs, not 1 + 1 yolk, and reduced the butter a TITCH. 1 cup c chips and 1 cup blanched unsalted peanuts (if you use salted, omit salt in the dough and use unsalted butter). A hit at the party I went to last night. Re: cakey - the bottom is very chewy and good texture, top was a titch cakey. Maybe add more baking soda...?? Or use BP instead.

These are great cookies!! I use the cookie dough as a base. Generally, I make a triple batch and before adding the chocolate chips, I divide it into 3 portions in separate bowls. Into each bowl, I add different ingredients. My favourite combination so far is 3/4 cup butterscotch chips, 3/4 cup chopped walnuts and 1/4 cup shredded coconut. Yum! I then make rolls of dough and refrigerate overnight. The following day, I slice the dough into 3/4 inch slices asnd place a small piece of waxed paper in between each slice. Then I re-wrap the dough and toss them in the freezer! When you want cookies, set the oven to 325, put frozen cookies on the cookie sheet and follow directions from orginal recipe for baking. So convenient and great if you're in a pinch for a quick sweet snack or last minute bake sale item.

Don't drop. Roll in a ball then flatten on sheet. They do not expand too much. Use 1/2 choc. chipsor double recipe ingredients

There is a reason these have such a high rating...they are really GOOD!!! However, they also are huge! I was only able to make about 15 cookies with my dough. I think these would be fun to take to a party or make to give to someone as a gift---but, unfortunally my kids blew through these in one night, 2 cookies a piece and they where gone! :)

These were yummy. I made these so long ago that I really don't remember if I changed anything or not. I don't think I did. I do remember that they were good though. My only complaint is that I wish they would of baked up a prettier golden brown.

oh my GOODNESS! Made these twice in two days...once as a test for the hubby's co-workers and after the ok again today. They are so GOOD!! I followed exactly - refigerated 20 min or so and used a smaller size ice cream scoop to give me more cookies. The first batch today had a slight mishap - the oven somehow was bumped to about 425 and the cookies were done in like 10 min. I thought they looked burnt but they were SO good... crunchy on top and bottom with bits of crunchy chocolate chip and a very moist almost raw inside. Cooked just enough. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Great cookies! I used 1 bag of Ghiradelli milk chocolate chips and 1/2 bag of Reese's peanut butter chips. They are very sweet though, so the reviews that cut down the sugar might be worth a try.

I've made this cookie many times and never had an issue with it. These are a big favorite around the house. The last time I made two dozen and they were gone the next day. I will note that if you subsitute baking chocolate chunks for the chips the cookie will come out differently. In my experience it had more of a crunch, which isn't my favorite but they still went over just as well. If anybody knows why the baking chocolate made a difference I'd like to know. Thanks for the recipe! P.S.- Some helpful tips for making these cookies: If you spray the cooling rack with some non-stick spray it makes for easier clean up. Also, if you set some chips aside, you can stick some on the tops of the cookies so they come out looking for professional. Finally, if you are putting more than one pan in the oven, switch pans out to opposing racks to ensure even baking.

The taste was really great - but there were FAR too many chocolate chips, made the dough hard to handle. Now, I'm not the most experienced cookie baker in the world, so I assume I've done something wrong, but the cookies didn't spread as much as I expected. Next time I would only use maybe 1 1/4 cup choco chips and I would press the coodies down a little to make them a little thinner. They actually ended up being about the same size and shape as hockey pucks! Thank goodness they weren't that hard or I would have never heard the end of it! Will try this one again!

Taste wise, this gets five stars. I used two tsp. vanilla and used half semi-sweet and half dark chocolate chips. I made no other changes. Looks, this was a three. I don't know if it's because I made these smaller that they turned out brown and greasy looking. I baked them for about 12 minutes and the cookies were formed with my small cookie scoop. These were a pain to get off of my cookie sheets as well. I would like to try these again, maybe adding a little more flour perhaps? Maybe using half shortening/half butter? I think maybe because my son helped me make them there might have been a mix up somewhere because I know these cookies are highly rated by many reviewers.
