I cut the water in half and, to cut down on saltiness but still give flavour used Marmite instead of commercial beef stock for flavour (Marmite is a spread like Vegemite, hugely popular in Australia and New Zealand...its very in good this, my partner is Kiwi he suggested it :) ) This is going to be our Easter dinner :)

Excellent, esp the next day. This made a LOT of au jus..so I will probably half the liquid mixture. I also used low sodium soy which turned out great to us!

My husband devoured this, I thought it was a little salty. I used low sodium soy sauce, 1 can beef broth and 2 cups water. Put the rosemary in a coffee filter and stapled it shut (great idea by the way). I also used a sirloin roast to cut down on the fat content. Trimmed off the big hunk of fat and the meat was still very tender and delicious! Will definately make again.

Great flavor! It's nice to have a change from the standard "oniony" roast. I followed the recipe exactly - and will do so next time. Thanks for a good one!

This recipe is the bomb! Has had great success in my house. My girls adore this recipe and would continue eating it until they burst open if I would allow it. Sooooo incredibly easy and very tasty. This is a great way to use up chuck roast when you are sick of the traditional roasts! I couldnt say thank you enough for this recipe...My families new favorite!

Yummy! Took the advice of others and used 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce. Also used beef broth and added 1/2 pkg of dry onion soup. Cut Rosemary in 1/2. Will definitely be making this again!

Excellent recipe...I would use 1 1/2 cp low sodium soy sauce next time and a little less water maybe 5 cps for more taste.

I made this for my husband and mother in law and they both loved it and have asked me to make it again. I did alter the recipe quite a bit to suit my tastes. I will definatley be making this again. I changes it as follows: 1) I used beef broth instead of water 2) I substituted one cup of broth/water with white wine. 3) Added 3 chopped shallots 4) Added one package of shitake mushrooms sliced 5) Added a packet of "Peppercorn Steak Sauce" seasoning packet and rubbed it all over the meat before placing in the crock pot and seasoning it with all other ingrediants. 6) Added 1 teaspoon of peppercorns. I didn't have any issue with the soy sauce overpowering the meal, but I think the wine might have tamed it a bit.

This was pretty good. The kids really enjoyed the meat however I found it hard to slice the meat thin enough for easy sandwich eating. I used a beef chuck roast. I took other reviewers advice and halved the soy sauce and rosemary. I also used 3 cups water and 3 cups beef broth instead of using all water. I probably wont make this again because my other recipe takes 30 minutes instead of the all day crock pot method. Thanks though. I love trying something new!

It was good. Took other's advice and omitted rosemary, halved soy sauce (and used low sodium), added some beef broth and a can of French onion soup as well as lots more garlic. May have gone too far by adding a packet of dry onion soup mix -- was a little salty. Cooked it overnight so I could chill it during the day and remove fat (thanks for the suggestion). Meat was tender flavor was good. Husband liked it and is glad there are leftovers.

Wow! What a tasty beef dip. My boyfriend absolutely loved it and has been happily taking leftovers to work for lunch! When I asked him if he liked it he said "are you kidding? it's AWESOME!" I'm not a huge soy sauce fan so I halved the soy sauce and added some beef bouillon instead. Also we love garlic, so I went crazy with the garlic. I will be making this again... thank you!

Meat was incredibly tender, but sauce was too soy sauce tasting. Far too overpowering. Will take others advice to use 1/2 next time and sub. beef broth in. The beef was delicious though.

Quick, simple, easy, and delicious. I make this at least once a month. I never get a complaint when I serve this. The only ingredient I modified was the garlic. You can never have enough, that's what I think.

Very good. This turned out very very tender. I used low sodium soy sauce as other reviews stated, would like the au jus to be a little more beefy tasting though. I added one pack of lipton onion soup mix shredded the beef and removed the fat and had no bay leaves. I would try beef broth and 1/2 the soy sauce next time.

This is one of the best crock pot recipes I've ever tried. My whole family loves it. I use McCormic crushed rosemary to avoid large pieces. We add sliced provolone & horseradish to the sandwich. Awesome!!!

My whole family really liked this, and I have picky eaters. The only thing I changed I used lite soy instead of regular. The boys said it was even better the next day, then ate up all the meat with some juice left, and went to the store and got some sliced roast beef so we could finish it up. Delicious!
