I added salt and ginger and since I didn't have OJ I substituted fresh squeezed clementine juice with water. So not much different. Would have still been good without the ginger. Definitely a keeper and something I plan on making again. Would make a lovely side dish for a holiday meal.

These were very good. My husband who does not like beets even liked them. I forgot the zest/peel at the end and it does need it. My fault for forgetting the zest though.

This is really a great recipe. I would suggest adding a pinch of salt to up the flavor.

These were easy to make and turned out well. I used half the recipe for the sauce and one full can of pre-sliced, no salt added beets. I put canned mandarin orange pieces in right before serving to add another color. Yum! I used a little less sugar than suggest per the advice of other reviewers, but I think the amount the recipe calls for would have been fine, too.

I've never had beats before. This is a good way to vary my veggie intake. It's so sweet it almost tastes like candy to me though.

Excellent! I used ALMOST a full can of frozen OJ - DID NOT dilute for a stronger orange taste. Even company that doesn't normally care for beets went back for seconds!

I love beets with just a bit of salt and pepper, so I was hesitant to try this recipe. But my family prefers veggies a bit more jazzed up. This was too sweet for us, but the flavour was GREAT! This will likely become my standard beet recipe, but with 1/2 the sugar. I might add a pinch of ginger next time.

My daughter is 13 months old and can't get enough of this. I'm not wild for beets so this was just okay for me. If you like beets try it, if not don't expect it to revolutionize beets for you.

Seeing this recipe here actually made me cry. It's the recipe that my mother, who passed away in 1976, used to make when we had guests for dinner. She used canned beets, and did not use the orange slices. It was so delicious that everyone always asked for the recipe, which she had made up herself and gladly shared. I don't make it any more because I've developed an allergy to orange juice, but I do occasionally take it to pot-lucks and it always disappears very quickly.
