My husband really liked this bread. I used 1 cup of masa harina (corn flour), and two cups regular flour, plus 4 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, and 1/3 cup sugar. I added about a cup of cheddar cheese, and let the dough rise in the pan for about 30 minutes before baking. Before I put it into the oven, I brushed melted butter and garlic powder over the top. I served it with bean soup. and it was good. Nice crunchy crust and chewy center. I used Bud Select beer. I'd like to try something more flavorful next time.

Quick and easy to make. It's a good recipe as is, but it's even better with 1-2 chopped jalapenos and ~1.5 cups of shredded cheddar.

Fantastic and very easy! I was looking for something similar to Tastefully Simples mix, and this is very similar, I think just a tad more sugar, and it would be identical.

This recipe was easy to remember, easy to make, and most importantly it worked very well. I used a dark ale and it turned out really nice. I'm pretty happy with it and plan on using it again.

I had very high hopes of this, but just didn't like the taste. I think I used a beer that was too strong (one my fiance was drinking, an IPA, I think). I found the bread bitter, though it tasted better with the dill dip I was serving too. Other people seemed to like it ok, but there was definitely a good amount left at the end of the party. It looked nice though, I also added cheddar cheese. I will try this again with a different beer and hope for better results.

Bread looked great! I used all purpose flour and 1 tsp baking powder but the taste was very bland. I will use again with self rising flour

Gotta say, I did not like this recipe. I think you need to be wary of what beer you choose. The bread was too dry and dense with too much of a yeast flavor. I used Saranac Indian Pale Ale. Maybe a fruit flavored Sam Adams or something else. Maybe give it a try with real flour and yeast along with some more sugar.

Good, quick and easy. I didn't have any self-rising flour, so did what other reviewers said and had 4tsp of baking powder to the flour and a tsp of salt. It would be great with corned beef and cabbage. I also used guiness and that gave it a good flavor.

Wow!!!! Made this with Hoegardden sp? My boyfriends fav beer. He LOVED it. He is not a bread fan, but he nearly ate the whole loaf with the chili and could not stop raving about it. Made it with 1/2 a cup with sugar too, and let it rise for an hour before baking. SO easy and SO good.

Following other reviewers' advice, I increased the sugar to 1/3 cup, split the batter between two pans and let it sit for 30 minutes. I poured melted butter on top as well. The bread was fantastic! I had recently been to a Tastefully Simple party and was looking for a similar beer bread. This is very, very close! It was a hit with everyone of our family and friends who tasted it.

I added the 1/3 cup of sugar per other suggestions. Personally I thought the bread too sweet but my boyfriend loved it. Might have been the beer I used as well (Bud). Othwersie, it's definitely a keeper and I know I'll have fun experimenting with this one.

I have been wanting to make bread, but it seemed a daunting task. We were bored to death here because of a snow day with lame snow, so I decided to give it a whirl. I used Budwiser, but I can't wait to use a Guiness (did not want to waste my Guiness unnecesarily!) This wasa easy and yummy! It gave me confidence to try other recipes! Thank you!
