This recipe is excellent. I did, however, modify a little. I had no paprika so I substituted with Old Bay seasoning. Other than that, I loved it and so did the family and friends. I will definitely use it again.

Easy and tasty. Made just as recipe decribes. First time I made fried fish that everyone in my family enjoyed. Thanks!

The overwhelming-salty flavor overpoweres the beer -- and the fish for that matter. Perhaps, some of the spices recommendations by other reviewers would give this dish the flavor it is sorely lacking.

Well I made this recipe tonight for dinner....and I only have one question. Why hasn't anyone mentioned the OVERWHELMING amount of salt in this batter?!?! This was my first attempt at frying fish and while I did forget to coat the filet's in flour (so the batter mostly fell off), the batter was almost inedible because it was so salty (and I'm a salt lover!). We may try this again making sure to flour the fish and I will reduce the amount of salt by at least half.

Good. I laid the fish in flour before dipping it in the batter, and that turned out better than putting it straight in the batter. It needed a little more spice, but it was good.

My boyfriend and I loved the way the fish came out! It was tasty and not soggy at all. I took the recommendation to coat the fish in flour before dipping in batter and it came out great. Thanks!!

Very good batter. I agree with Linda McLean(hey there Linda)..fish batter 101 = flour before batter (hence the picture posted has batter missing off of the fish). I added dill and cayenne to the batter, just because my "staple" recipe calls for it, other than that all I can say is that it didn't stick to the bottom of my deep fryer basket as my staple recipe does so that makes it even better! Fish came out perfectly coated and yummy. Will use this again, thanks so much Linda!!

The fish came out great and the family loved it! This recipe gets a 4/5 only because of the mess it created.

I never fry foods, so this was an adventure, (watch out for the splattering oil),...but it turned out good! I only used salt and pepper for the spices, and salted the pieces when they came out of the pan. I also used the batter for onions, very good!

Needed extra flour, hence the three, otherwise a good recipe. Once I thickened the batter my husband says it is the best batter he has ever had.

My kids are such picky eaters, I wasn't sure how they'd take to it since the batter did smell a bit funny before frying it. But they loved it and asked for seconds!!! Excellent beer batter!

Good treat. Not particularly healthy but perfect for the fried fish cravings. Great to use for fish sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, and plenty of malt vinegar.

This just didn't work for me. I dusted my filets with flour but the batter still slid off in the fryer. The flavor of the fried bits that fell off was good, therefore the 2 star rating as opposed to 1 star.

The spice/flavor was good. I used less salt and added some Old Bay spice as well. I used peanut oil instead of vegetable oil. Also, I should have read some of the other reviews first. The batter was too thin and didn't adhere to the fish. I also made onion rings with the leftover batter. My suggestions: (a) either use half the beer or extra flour; and (b) dip everything you plan to fry in flour first, then the batter.
