My husband loved this dish but I thought it was just okay. We followed the directions but added more spices and subbed pinto for kidney beans and veggie crumbles instead of beef. My complaint was that the bottom of the biscuits seemed uncooked or mushy but the only way to avoid that would probably be to cook them separately.

If you don't like mushy biscuits, bake them separately!! I agree with "cookinbug" Otherwise, it is pretty good. I added diced tomatoes as it needed more substance. I would agree that it is on the bland side, but being irish- that was ok!

This was so hearty and good. I could not stop eating it. I used a little more cheese for kids.

Zeb and I really liked this one. We would have added more beef and beans just so there was enough for all of the biscuits. Zeb really liked that the biscuits were dusted with cornmeal; he said he liked the softness of the biscuits and the crunchiness of the cornmeal.

I made this recipe exactly like it was written and didn't have any problems with it at all. My boyfriend likes it so much that he has requested twice in the last couple of months! Thanks for the great recipe!

I liked this pretty well, my husband said it was ok. I would make it again because it is an easy and cheap meal. Next time I will chop up a whole onion and fry it up with the ground beef, and probably add a teaspoon or two of minced garlic. I didn't use canned biscuits, I hade Bisquick mix so I made some from that. When I added the biscuits, I cooked for a full 15 minutes, and the biscuits were perfectly done.

My daughter didnt want to eat it cause she said it looked yucky but she tryed it and didn't say anythihg. A week later she asked if I could make it again! But I agree with the other reviews that the biscuits were soggy I just cooked them a little longer then the time recomended. If my picky kid will eat it, it must be good

We didn't care for this. The kidney beans made it too starchy, and the biscuits were pretty soggy on the bottom. The flavor was OK, but the negatives out-weighed the positives.

Very good, cornmeal was a bit much and almost too much biscuit to beef mix, suggest less or smaller biscuits or more beef mixture

The flavor of the casserole was very good, but the biscuits were still raw and gooey on the bottom even after they browned on the top. Raw biscuits are not appetizing!

This was interesting. I didn't use onion because no one likes it and I didn't use the chili powder because I didn't have any but I think it diffinetly needs both. I also didn't use the cornmeal and am wondering if it would have kept the biscuits from getting soggy. Everyone liked it and we might try it again, next time with the cornmeal and other spices and we'll see if it makes a difference.
