This stew gets 4 stars based solely on my personal flavor palette. I felt like the bolder nostalgic flavors of the stew I was looking for weren't there. I added a few things to enhance it after the fact and was quite pleased. This was also my first time making stew though so I am really glad I started with this recipe as it is a great Foundation.

Loved this recipe. I did season the meat before browning.

I made this recipe today, they only changes I made were I added everything together and I used my Crock pot. I let it cook on low for 6 hours. My husband and Father in law loved it. I think next time I will make the stew thicker with more water and cornstarch as described in the All Recipes magazine.

This was my second time making beef stew, and this one is pretty darn good. Be careful with the beef cubes as it was pretty salty when i made it to the recipe. I would add different veggies as well, turnip, parsnip, etc. Still a great recipe for beginners.

This recipe was excellent. However, I tweaked it a bit, Latino Style. Instead of potatoes, I used green plantains. I also added Sazon sin achoite to the list of seasonings. Oh, and I sprinkled some kosher salt on the meat. I must add my own flavor to any dish I cook.. And it was delicious!

This recipe was good. The only thing I did differently was tossed my meat and seasonings in flour, then seared them. I reduced the rosemary, added in extra vegetables and a bit of tomato paste and tomato sauce. Mmmm, mmm, good and nicely served as a soup with cornbread.

My family and I thought it was very good! Even my two toddlers ate it. I poured it over brown rice.
