Great recipe. Like another person wrote. I put 1/4 flour, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp ground pepper in a bag and placed the meat in the bag and shake it until the meat is covered before cooking in oil. I also added 1/2 cup of red cooking wine, added salt and used four teaspoons of corn starch and water for an awesome beef stew.

I followed the recipe exactly, except I did dredge the beef in flour, pepper, salt, and paprika before browning; added T each of ketchup and Worcestershire and also a few dashes of liquid smoke. Husband said it tasted pretty good.

I love this beef stew recipe and it is the only one I make now. I made a few changes such as using flour to thicken instead of cornstarch. I also substitute the rosemary with Basil (I am not a fan of rosemary) and it makes it delicious. We pair it with Pilsbury Country biscuits and it is a keeper in our home. Wonderful recipe!

I left out the cornstarch because I thought the flour from browning the meat thickened it up enough. I added 2 cloves and a bay leaf. I only cooked it 1 hour and 15 minutes with the veggies in the whole time. The meat was still very tender and the stew was perfect!

This was by far the best beef stew! I've tried several others on here, and this was the BEST. And VERY EASY! I changed a few things that made a big difference: First, I coated the meat with onion powder, garlic powder, coarse black pepper & minced garlic (4-5 cloves) before cooking. Then, instead of boullion cubes, I used 3 cups of beef broth, and one cup of red wine. I also added several splashes of worcester sauce, which made a wonderful (slight) change in taste. I doubled the cornstarch/water combo, to make it thicker. Beware of putting the veggies in too early, as I did, and the meat wasn't quite done when the veggies were done. EXCELLENT RECIPE that we can't wait to make again!

I cannot say enough about this recipe. My family was asking for stew, and I tried this since had so many positive ratings. The only thing I changed was I added a can of mushrooms with the juice, since my family likes mushrooms. I have never made stew before and cannot believe how even my picky boy loved it. I thought we would have tons of leftovers, but everyone had 2 servings (except my husband who had 3rds). I made with a loaf of baked french bread. THANK YOU for sharing We will be making again this week!!!

This stew was great. The only modifications that I made were to add 1/2 cup of red wine (when I added the water) and I added one extra carrot, potato and half of an onion. I made it for family that I had over for dinner. Served it with garlic mashed potatoes. Perfect meal.

Sadly disappointing. I tried to follow the recipe as stated to be able to give an honest review. The longer the stew cooked and the more I tasted....I knew I was going to really have to add to it, to make it taste good. I added red wine, garlic, and a bunch of other things and it still wasn't all that great. I think a big part of it was the bouillon. If it'd been made with beef broth using a little bouillon for flavoring, it would have been much more flavorful. I'll stick to my fav. from allrecipes "Lamb and winter vegetable stew" made with beef instead.

Best beef stew I've made! I doubled the meat, tripled the corn starch and added a handful of grated parmesan cheese at the end. Thanks for the great recipe!

I made this stew for the first time 2 weeks ago and made it again last night. This is one of the best beef stews I have ever had!! the only thing I did different was to triple the amount of cornstarch since I prefer my stew thicker. Thanks for submitting this recipe!!!

This was SO easy to make and tasted delicious!! I accidentally doubled the beef boulion because I didn't read that my package was 'extra large' cubes...but it worked out alright in the end because I needed to add water as it simmered down (a little more simmering and it would make a GREAT potpie filling!) So tasty! My friend who came over for my first attempt at it took the recipe home with her that night!!

This was just great! I served it with French bread on the side. I always season my meat before I cook a soup or stew because it adds the extra flavor - so if you don't follow other reviewers and do the flour mixture. I used fresh parsley and crushed the rosemary because I didn't like the fact that it looks like pine needles.I used three cans of beef broth instead of the cubes I also used canned potatoes and carrots and poured their juices over into the pot I did use fresh celery and onion. Everything boiled down niceley and I tripled the cornstarch. Once again this was great!!!

I had never made beef stew before....but I have to say that this recipe is really good. I coated the meat with garlic powder and pepper and I didn't have any rosemary so I threw in a pinch of thyme. It turned out really good. I will definitly make this again!

this is a great recipe! i had to add more water and more corn starch than the recipe called for, and i also dipped the meat in flour/garlic powder mixture before putting it in the pan. other than that, this recipe is pretty simple and is delicious.

My husband and I really enjoyed this recipe. I made it in the crock pot, but made sure to brown the meat on the stove first. I also used about 1/2 C of red wine instead of all water. I also left out the onion. Thanks for a great meal!
