Probably one of the easiest and tastiest stews around. I floured and seasoned the beef prior to browning and added 1/2 cup of cooking wine to deglaze. During the first simmer process, I added 1 tbsp worchestire and 2 tbsp of ketchup. In addition to the recipe veggies, I also included a can of corn and 2 additional each of celery and carrots. The beef was tender at around 1 hour 45 minutes. The cornstarch was exactly right at the suggested amount in the recipe. Thank you for a great dish!

this recipe is very good!!! and very simple. i only made half. it turned out great. i did add a little more liquid, and i didn't have celery or rosemary. so i used thyme instead. it is a great meal for a cold winter day!

I would have given 3 stars because I thought it was bland, but my husband loved it. I bet its better the next day...

Made this stew last night and it turned out really well. However, I did make some of the previous suggestions made by previous reviewers. For starters I took a gallon bag and poured flour/salt/pepper into it then tossed in the 2 pounds of stew meat and shook it around until every piece was evenly covered. Next up I added 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce along with 2 bay leaves after adding the water and other seasonings. Lastly I added 3 times the amount of cornstarch to thicken the stew to a consistency that I preferred more. Thats it, otherwise I followed the recipe pretty closely. Made it for my fiance and her family and they all loved it. Going to double up on the amount next time I make as this went FAST!

Very good stew! The only change that I made was that I added a little more cornstarch than was suggested, just because I like my stew to be on the thicker side. I was so yummy, and seemed to disappear quickly! Thanks for the great recipe.

Fantastic meal. I seasoned the stew meat with salt and pepper, coated with flour prior to cooking. Added Worcestershire, ketchup, and a bit more potatoes to the mix. Entire family loved it. Definitely will make again.

Too bland for my liking possibly because I didn't thicken the broth enough. I even cut one cup of the water and it was still too thin. Just not a rich enough recipe for my taste. Seems like it needs more seasoning of some sort.

This was great and pretty quick. I added some freshly minced garlic and put the onion and garlic in the first simmer round. I did add some salt and more pepper at the end because it was a tad bland (did not use cubes but used the boulion powder) I also halved the recipe and added one more additional cup of water with boullion and more celery, carrot, and potato. My 2 year old loved it. I froze some in bowls and then transfered to plastic freezer bags for later use and refrigerated some for leftovers.

I followed the recipe with the addition of browning the meat after flouring and seasoning it. The flour and oil drippings make for a nice base to this stew. Me and the man really enjoyed it, the kids not so much.

Like several other reviewers I think this stew needs additional seasonings. Lots of it and different from what the recipe calls for. Initially I doubled the seasonings called for. it needs more celery and less potatoes.

I gave it five stars. But then I have been making my stew like this for years. Only difference is I use beef broth and not bullion. My husband is allergic to the MSG in bullion. I also use corn instead of onions and celery. My husband is allergic to onions and doesn't like celery. I usually don't use rosemary but since the recipe added it I figured I would try it out. It was good. I crush the rosemary before using it. We like it better that way. I also added more cornstarch as I like a little thicker stew. I would add this to my recipe box but since I already make it like this I don't see a reason to. Thank you

Absolutely the best beef stew I ever made. I did sub beef broth for bouillon and water. It has replaced my old recipe. A definite keeper! Thanks for sharing!!

This was the first time I've ever made stew and it was THE BEST! I didn't have dried rosemary on hand but I added one pouch of campbells cream of mushroom soup mix just for a bit more flavour, and some green onions...my friends loved it too!!! This will always be my stew recipe from now on... it's so quick and easy, I was shocked....
