This is a staple in our home. We make this almost every Sunday. We have tried 3 other Goulash recipes before this one. This is by far, the best. It is nearly as good as any Goulash I have had in a German Restaurant. But, I had a hard time adjusting to the green beans. I found it usual. We skip the sour cream. It makes for a yummy meal with a good load of bread.

I made this soup to the recipe but found the tomato and cayenne pepper overpowering. When I re-heated the remaining portion I added more beef broth and used sour cream to tone it down. Couldn't taste the caraway, which to my mind makes it 'goulash".

DH and DS loved this, thanks for a delicious recipe. I used leftover minute steak, cut up, nixed the carrots & green pepper (didnt have any), and didnt add the paste - I wanted a "soup" consistency since we are all sick with colds, and added lots of onion and garlic. I also added some leftover homemade elbow mac&cheese, which added more character. It seems pretty versatile, which is a plus, and therefore, I see making it again in the my future, according to DH.

This was a great recipe, but I would suggest ground beef instead of stew meat. I usually would not make that trade, but I think it would make it better. It turned out wonderfully though, and was perfect with warm bread.

Sorry, but we were disappointed with this soup--too much tomato, for one thing. I added some garlic and a little more salt, but we felt it lacked flavor. I will stick with my grandmother's goulash soup.

This is amazing! I am pleasantly surprised at how good this soup is. I made it in the crockpot yesterday to have something in the fridge for meals for the weekend. Today, I'm having my first bowl, which is reheated. I cannot believe the layers of flavors in this soup. It is definitely not your ordinary, boring soup, by any means. When I crockpotted it, I cooked in stages: meat first, then added spices, then added potatoes/carrots and added the peppers at the end so they wouldn't over cook. This is very, very good you guys. I urge you to try this recipe.

Excellent! Lots of flavor. I used leftover shredded pot roast for the meat, and did reduce the caraway seeds to only 1 tablespoon. Will definitely make this again!

I loved this recipe. I even told all my friends about it immediately. I use less meat than called for because we are not big meat eaters, but otherwise, I made it exactly as is.
