These are soooooo good. I made these for a birthday party and they were the first to go. Then I made them the next day and added some chopped onion and used 6 slices of bacon and mixed the bacon in with the beans. We liked the added onion and extra bacon. Just make sure you double or triple the batch, because they go fast.

Instead of placing the cooked bacon on top of the beans, i just stirred them in before baking and placed several slices of raw bacon on top of the beans before baking to get even more of that wonderful flavor soaked into the beans. I didnt use onions, but probably will next time. They were just wonderful, easy to make and a huge, huge hit with people of all ages.

Thanks Judy, your review said it best! "It's a simple recipe with down-home good taste." I could not say it better. I have never liked baked beans until now. I served these with my slow- smoked pulled pork and potato salad at a recent family party. Even the seasoned cooks requested the recipe.

Made it at the firehouse and it was a hit. I tripled the recipe for 12 firefighters and ended up making another batch (3X recipe!!!) before the night was over! I eliminated the green peppers and added finely diced onions instead. It was great!!!

Great easy recipe. I used more bacon (because we like it) & some diced onion. Very easy to make.
