My family really liked this pot roast. I warned them ahead of time about the different flavour from the apple juice and cinnamon, and I think that helped them not be unpleasantly surprised. It was very easy to make, and smelled really good. I am going to use the leftovers for roast beef burritos from this site. Thanks!

What a wonderful dinner. My children could not stop eating it. They loved the "apple gravy" over potatoes. The only changes that I made was adding about a cup more of juice and half of the cinnamon. I also shredded the meat, sort of like pulled pork and then took some of the reserve broth and cooked it in the juice to make it moist. I used the extra broth to make the gravy. A definite must have again!

Loved this recipe, found the flavor to be very similar to Saurbraten! I think I would like to add veggies to it next time (the usual stuff: potatoes, carrots, etc) I did add mushrooms to the gravy.

Excellent recipe! There was only one thing I disliked, though- having to get out the Dutch oven just to brown the outside. That thing is HEAVY! I added carrots 2 hours into cooking, as well. Turned out great!

What an interesting roast! I was afraid of trying it, but thankfully the previous reviews talked me into it. The spices seemed more suited for pork, but it actually worked really well. The gravy was very nice too.

Very good, it has a wonderful taste that is Bavarian. The was easy to make. I can say that as a left over it was better the first time around despite the appearance from the corn starched gravy being gelled. But, as a left over the meat becomes more seasoned.

This was really very good. I changed the original recipe by using a 1/2 c. beef broth and decreasing the apple juice (I used cider) to 1 cup. I also increased the vinegar by one tablespoon. This is a keeper!!

This pot roast was really good. The meat was incredibly tender, and the sauce was good. I was a little concerned because of the odd combination of ingredients, but it was very mild. Not too sweet, not too much tomato, just right. Will make again.

Made this for supper tonight. Everyone loved it!! I used apple cider instead of juice-we live just 10 minutes away from a cider mill). I also added carrots to the crock pot for the last hour+. Definitely a keeper!! Thank you so much.

I just had this for dinner. It's definately different that your usual pot roast but still pretty good. The only thing I think I'll do differently next time is cut the cinnamon in half. It was alittle too overwhelming for the dish.
