An easy way to add a little extra flavor to plain green beans. I used fresh green beans and sauteed in the butter and seasonings until tender and a bit caramelized. A nice blend of flavors.

I did follow your lead, but I used green beans, basil, and lemon balm from my garden, and added a little olive oil and steamed them.

I used fresh french green beans, and instead of all margarine I used half olive oil and half margarine. I sauteed a little (one clove) finely minced garlic, then stirred in the lemon pepper and dried basil and let the flavors meld a bit before adding the beans. Tossed it all to coat and then put a lid on the pan and let them cook on medium heat for about 3 minutes, then stirred and gave them another 3 minutes on low heat. Everyone LOVED them! I will make this again, every time I get fresh beans.

Very nice change for plain green beans. Lots of flavor. This would be a great side for an italian flavored dish (garlic, tomato, basil). It didn't go as well with my mexican rice dish. Thanks, these were good.

This is a good base recipe to start with. It needs something extra, though. I'm thinking some vegetarian bacon bits or some slivered almonds. I'll be trying one of those next time.

These beans were very tasty. The seasonings were really good! I used fresh French style beans instead of frozen. I saw that the recipe called for the ingredients to "boil", but didn't see any liquid listed in the recipe, so I added enough chicken broth to cover the beans. Since I was using fresh, the cooking time was a bit longer. The time from when I first put the ingredients in the saucepan to table time was about 15 minutes. I sprinkled some Parmesan cheese on the beans before serving. I will be doing this one again. Thanks for posting the recipe, Marilou!

This recipe is very tasty! The green beans I bought were horrible (they literally tasted like grass) but the flavoring of them was delicious. This is a great change to the ordinary green beans my family usually eats. We will definitely be using this recipe again and again. Thank you, Marilou!
