You should be a moderately experienced baker to make this work. The recipe as-is will not work well. If you know how to alter recipes, you will be able to fix the problems with this recipe. I had to increase the milk and sugar.

Way too much flour. The cookies came out crumbly and tasteless.

I wanted to give this dough recipe a fair chance. I was making a tart with a cookie dough crust. The original recipe is very dry. I changed it to suit my taste and needs. I added 1/2white sugar and 1/2 light brown sugar, 1/2 the soda 1/2 powder. I increased the milk by teaspons to get the crrect texture. It came out great that you could add almost in other ingrediant like choc chips, nuts, coconut or whatever. Oh I also added a touch of dried ginger to give it a little bit of a kick

I made this one and the Cherry surprise cookies. I plan on making the others. The recipes are: Sugar Cookies, Cherry Surprise Cookies, Chocolate Mallow Cookies, Jelly Sandwich Cookies and Crumb-Topped Date Bars. This recipe can be divided and frozen. I also recommend adding the flour slowly, using bread beaters and when it gets thick, add the rest by hand!

This recipe calls for too much flour. Cookie dough was almost impossible to mix. Cookies did not taste good. Very try and not cookie like at all. Husband did not like them and he loves cookies.

Just followed the recipe for two dozen cookies. I added some nuts and chocolate. The cookies were dry when they came out, a little sweet. Almost taste like a short bread type of cookie.

I love this recipe because you can do whatever you want with it. I made it with choc. chip, smarties, reeses pieces, raisins,.. the sky is the limit I only made half the recipe because I didn't know how it was gonna turn out. I found the dough dry so I added more milk until I got it where I wanted it. after cooking it, It was very bread-like and not what i was looking for So i switched the baking powder for baking soda as mentioned above, added an extra cup of sugar and added an extra 1/4 cup of milk. I cooked it at 350 in my convection oven for 8-9min and its perfect every time

Just finished making a dozen with my girls (8 and 3 y/o); that was fun. The 3 y/o is picky but she took one bite and didn't have time to talk. She soon finished and wanted another. Gave some to my hubby and he also asked for seconds. It is a basically great cookie. I ran out of vanilla, half way, so I finished off with almond extract. I baked them for 15 min. and they came out moist. Thanks Gloria for a really simply great recipe.
