I used a deer roast instead of beef. with this recipe you could not tell it was deer meat. Very tasty. My guys liked it and requested more. I let it cook longer in the crock pot. Then I transfered it to the oven for the last 1 hour. I am very please with the great taste.

EXCELLENT !!!! I've made this recipe for my fam on many occasions and they love it. I did use BBQ sauce (thick & spicy) one time in lieu of the ketchup and it really made no difference, my husband had no idea. So ketchup or BBQ sauce, either one tastes great. Thanks again All Recipes. YOU ROCK !!!

I absolutely loved this recipe. I made up the sauce and poured it over a left over roast that I had shredded.....and cooked it on low for a couple of hours. I substituted Curleys BBQ sauce for the ketchup. The taste reminded me of the A & W Barbequed beef sandwiches that my Grandparents used to get for me many moons ago. Thanks for the great recipe, it's a keeper at our house!!

This was a great hit. I made it for the boys' football night. I added an onion. I used half bbq sauce and half ketchup. I left out the mustard and it still tasted great. I didn't find the sauce to runny at all. It was perfect. I put it in the croc-pot on high for 4 hours and it just fell apart. I will definatly make this my permanent bbq beef recipe!

I found this recipe about 7 years ago and have used it many, many times. It always receives rave reviews from guests, and is a great, easy, delicious option for football parties or other get togethers.

Replaced 1 C of ketchup with Head Country BBQ Sauce...will replace ketchup completely next time. YUM! Big hit! Great for stuffed baked potatoes too!

Wow wow and wow! I am not a big red meat eater, but this was really good. My daughter loved it. I read some of the other reviews, and opted for using BBQ sauce instead of the ketchup. I didn't have any problems with it being too runny at the end. I also used the tip of cooking it with the lid off for the last hour. It smelled wonderful, tasted wonderful. It's just me and my daughter, so I put one container in the freezer and we'll eat our way through the other one.

This was my first time making barbecued beef. Yum. I used an (almost) 3 pound roast, but kept the liquid ingredients as the standard recipe stated. So glad I did, or it would have dried out. Will definitely make this again, the three people I made it for each had two sandwiches. Thanks!

Here in Texas there is a place called Rudy's that serves the best brisket period. Just like Rudy’s this brisket falls apart and melts in you mouth with a hint of fiery spice and a smoky powerful flavor. I made one substation to this recipe and it was extremely close to the best I've had. I highly recommend adding 1 1/2 cup Heine’s Thick and Spicy barbeque sauce instead of the ketchup.

Really good, just like the beef you get at Sonny's. I think next time i may double up on the liquid smoke.

I love this recipe. I follow it exactly, except for two things. I usually have to add a bit of cornstarch to the sauce to thicken it, before I pull apart the meat. And second, if I'm using this to make barbecue sandwiches, I add a bit of mayo to the mix at the end. Makes it very creamy. Yummm!

I've made this twice in the past 2 weeks (b/c my husband begged me to make it again) and we loved it both times. However 1st time I made it I followed recommendations of reviewer "Ash" and cooked it in beef broth, then added the sauce later. It was good, but I used approx 2 lbs London Broil and it definately needed to cook longer than the suggested 5 hours of her review. Yesterday I made this again and followed the recipe EXACTLY (except again used 2 lbs London Broil) and this turned out wonderful. Oh, I didn't have any liquid smoke so omitted that as well. It did cook for 8-9 hours and it was great.
