Best BBQ beef I have made! After shredding the beef, I put about 1/2 cup of sauce into a small sauce pan and added 1 T corn starch and made a rue then added it to the rest of the sauce in the crock pot, stirred it in, then added the beef back to the crock pot and continue cooking for an hour. The sauce seemed very thin and this helped to make it more hearty.

I have made this 5 times and it is a hit each time. I make it for football and poker parties. It makes the house smell great and the beef is SOO tender and delicious.

I followed this recipe exactly and it turned out great except the sauce is not sweet or spicy, which my family really likes, so next time i think i will add some sugar and cayenne pepper but for a general barbecued beef, it went over very well!

This was delicious and easy. I will make it again! Seems to make plenty, too! I served it as sandwiches, but it would be very good over rice, also.

Made this last night for dinner. After reading the other reviews, I decided to adjust the recipe a little. To counteract the watery sauce problem, I waited until after the meat was shreded to add it. Also, to keep it from being sweet ketchup, double the liquid smoke, cut about 1/8 of the ketchup and cut back on the sugar by about 1/16 or so. Came out a little smokey but tasted like it was made with actual original flavor BBQ Sauce.

Oh so good! I halved the recipe and out of necessity had to use soy sauce instead of worcestershire so I reduced the salt. I also added a teaspoon of good old Australian Vegemite (concentrated yeast extract). Many Aussies use it on baked roast meats as it adds a real zing. This was great on fresh baguettes with fried onions, accompanied with potato salad and a tall pitcher of iced tea.

This is so good! I made the mistake of leaving it in the crockpot too long last time and it wasn't as good. No more than 6 hours! Also I added about an inch of water on the bottom of the crockpot to keep it from burning the sauce the first time I cooked it. It helps alot! The sauce it thick enough it stays on the roast anyway.

My husband loved this and could not stop eating it. I froze the remaining liquid after the meat was cooked to separate the fat and it worked great.

I am giving it 5 stars because it was good, just not exactly my idea of bbq. The ingredients keep it moist, but I prefer BBQ sauce. I like it saucier. Is that a word?

Thank you for this little diddy! My two picky sons each came back for more!! I reduced the amount of sugar (because I am trying to cut carbs) by using low-carb ketchup and Splenda brown sugar - also omitted the mustard due to an allergy. Even with these alterations, this recipe is a keeper.

I used balsomic vinegar instead of red wine since that is what I had on hand. Other than that, I made the recipe exactly as instructed. It was delicious and the entire family loved it. They said that it was much better than the local barbeque restaurant's sandwiches. When I removed the meat to shred it, I also transfered the juice to a bowl and stuck it in the freezer for about an hour. It let the fat cool on top and made it easy to scoop out. I added the shredded beef and sauce back to the crock pot and heated back up.

Wow, this was wonderful! My parents said it was the best BBQ they ever had. I used a pork loin so it was nice and lean and I had no issues with greasiness. I added a bit more worcestershire and liquid smoke (maybe 50% more) than it calls for to make it a little more flavorful. Thanks for the recipe, this will be a regular meal in my house!

I made this for our Sunday nite Church group this past week and everyone loved it. I thot it was gonna be runny but it wasnt. I liked the combo of sweet but needed more zip so Ill add some pepper sauce or somtin next time. Was better after it sat in fridge overnight an all flavors soaked in. Def. would let the sauce sit in fridge next time to get rid of the grease and let the flavors soak in. But really good bbq tho. Thanks

My whole family loved this recipe and that is very rare that the six of us agree on one thing. I used a top round roast because the market didn't have rump or bottom, but it was still excellent. I made another batch of the sauce the next day and used that for the sandwiches. We were licking the sauce off the plates. I also added a little cayanne pepper for a spicy kick. It was so yummy that I was asked by my sister-in-law to bring this to her block party in a few weeks. Delish!

So easy! I used bbq sauce and a big squirt of ketchup. I added extra dijon mustard and wochestershire sauce. I also added some mexican spices. I reccomend cubing the meat, and cutting out the fat before hand. I let it cook overnight, let it sit in the fridge while I'm at work during the day, skim the fat when I get home and get rid of the greasy sauce, then cook on high for another two hours with the rest of the sauce (I make a double batch of sauce.) YAY!
