This was actually the worst by following the directions - I would've kept the liquid or just rinse and add some liquid and only cook for 30mins to heat. I did put it all together about 30 mins. prior to putting it in the oven, but they were so dried out and basically burned - I would make again without cooking for so long.

Absolutely wonderful recipe - just be careful you don't overbake it because if it dries out, it is ruined. Will make this again and again.

I have been using this recipe for several years and my husband loves it! Be forewarned, it IS sweet! Also, I agree that it is easy to overbake but delicious when done right.

WE did not like the taste of the beans and the tops were dried out. Maybe a different kind of bean would of been better.

I did change a few things, I used 1/2 cup of brown sugar, great northern beans (all I had on hand) added 1 heaping Tbsp of barbeque sauce and 2 Tbsp of maple syrup. I also cooked them at 200 for an hour, they were to die for, I am making them for the 2nd time in 2 weeks today.

Not bad... i had never cooked with that kind of bean before. Our guests liked the dish a lot, and we did, too, but I have had better bean dishes, so i don't know that I'd bother with this one again.

I liked the BBQ sauce, but I used the large butter beans, and think it would have tasted a lot better with the smaller beans. The family does not care to have it again, although I would love to try it with the smaller beans.
