Cherry Hazelnut Biscotti

Presents from the pantry are a tradition with me-and this crusty coffee 'dunker' is a favorite! Stuffed with fruits and nuts, it freezes well and can be made a month ahead of busy holidays. Dried cranberries can be substituted for cherries.

These crunchy slices are requested often during the holidays, particularly by my husband. He likes to dunk them in coffee.

A twice-baked Italian cookie, biscotti makes a wonderful 'dunker'. A pretty way to present a batch is on a Christmasy plate arranged in a wagon-wheel fashion.

These are a perfect treat with a cup of coffee for breakfast, with tea in the afternoon or for a light dessert. Fancy enough for company but simple enough to make every day.

The original version of this recipe was handed down from my great-aunt. Through the years, my mother and I have tried different flavor combinations...this is a favorite for all. --Brenda Keith, Talent, Oregon

The enticing aroma of anise filled the kitchen and wafted through the house as Mom always kept a big glass jar filled so we had a supply of these traditional cookies on hand. --Cookie Curci-Wright, San Jose, California

I love baking all kinds of cookies, but since I'm Italian, biscotti is my all-time favorite. I remember nibbling on these as a child each Christmas.
