these are a gem of a cookie! packed with flavor and texture. I love a soft cookie, and these fit the bill. used black bananas and with the 1 cup of sugar, I loved the fact that they were not sickening sweet. Soft batter, but they do not spread. Like Muffintin, I agree that the 1 tsp clove would have been a bit overpowering with the chocolate. I used 1/4 tsp and although I could taste a hint of it, it did not overpower the rest of the cookie. I love the fact that this is versatile when it comes to the add-ins. Could sub the chips with raisins, nuts, coconut, and play around with the spices. Loved the hint of cinnamon; again, not overpowering. yes, this does make more than stated which is a good thing. I got roughly 5 dozen with the pampered chef small sz. cookie scoop. Fabulous recipe and nice change from bread or muffins. This cookie would travel well; guaranteed to stay soft but the texture would keep it from crumbling during transit. thanks so much for this keeper recipe.

This is a great recipe!! I used 1/2 cup shortening and 1/2 cup butter instead of butter flavored shortening. Also, I left out the cloves entirely (simply because I hate the taste). ; ) My only complaint would be that, although the recipe is supposed to make 24 cookies, I ended up with three dozen good-sized cookies! In any event, they were all gone within a matter of days. This is a great alternative to banana bread.

I'm sorry but I really didn't like this - it was more cake than cookie, couldn't taste much of the oatmeal and the cloves were overwhelming. Maybe I did something wrong given the other reviews but don't think so.

Usually I dont bake at all. This was my first cookie and it was awesome! I added my own touches. When I mashed the bananas I put 1 1/2 tablespoons of honey with the mash. I also cut back the chocolate chips to 1/2 cup and added 1/2 cup of raisins and a 1/2 dcup of walnuts. nThey were awesome.

These cookies are really good. We didn't have any chocolate chips but lots of ripe bananas so we exchanged chocolate chips for Crushed Heath Bar. They were really moist and soft. I think they will be made lots at our house! They made a ton of cookies too! Thanks for the great recipe!

These cookies disappear! They are cake-like, flavorful, and not overpoweringly sweet. I like to use MINI CHOCOLATE CHIPS instead of the regular sized ones. My mother also passed this recipe on to me when I got married!

We are huge banana bread fans, so these cookies fit the bill perfectly! I did substitute the shortening for 1/2 c. shortening and 1/2 c. margarine (and would consider just switching it out entirely next time), and did 1/2 c. brown sugar with 1/2 c. white. DELICIOUS! I got four dozen cookies from this recipe.
