Wonderful recipe! I added ricotta chesse to the cottage cheese and made as written. Can't go wrong with this recipe, if you need a great impressive dish for company.

Good, but a little too cheesy for me.

This was pretty good, but I am Italian and I think I will stick with Ricotta cheese next time, Baked Ziti II looks more like my appeal, much more cheese. Although I do like the meat sauce it made.

The sour cream was a nice touch. I added extra sauce and made sure to layer the sauce next to the ziti, and covered while cooking, but it still turned out a little dry.

I made it exactly as written except doubled it for a gathering. It was great and remained great for left-overs.

My husband and I both agreed that this is the best baked ziti we've ever had. As a previous reviewer suggested, I used sweet Italian sausage as my pork sausage. I also used 12 slices of provolone cheese (6 per layer) and an 8 oz. (2 c.) package of shredded mozzarella. To simplify the preparation, I sauteed the chopped onion and minced garlic with the beef and sausage as it cooked, and added the minced fresh rosemary with a little salt, pepper, and basil at the end with the sauce. The fresh rosemary gives the taste an added boost; I'm very glad I used it! I also simplified assembly by mixing the cottage cheese and sour cream, and added some Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, basil, garlic powder, and parsley to this mixture to give it a little more flavor, although I'm sure it's good as written too. Thanks for a great ziti recipe!

I wish I could eat this all day long. Sadly, it's so filling and I have to wait a few hours for seconds. SO good.

Very good. As others suggested, I think I should have mixed the cheeses with the sour cream/cottage cheese to allow for easier spreading but aside from that, it was excellent. Oh, and I did need to bake it for 30 full minutes to get the inside hot. Will definitely be making this again.

I loved this recipe!! I especially love the combination of italian sausage and ground beef together. NExt time I will probably mix the meat and sauce together with the cheeses instead of layering it in the dish. Otherwise I will definitely be making this again!

I thought this was good but not fantastic. I substituted ricotta for cottage cheese as suggested. I also needed this to be vegetarian so I substituted mushrooms and broccoli for the meat. Perhaps I was too skimpy on the cheese (I didn't measure precisely). In any case, it received good reviews from all the diners and made tons! I was skeptical that this would make enough for 12, but it did. Probably 8 large portions and 12 regular sized portions.

We just finished dinner - and wow! I made it (almost) just as written and it was delicious. I'm not sure why so many people are subbing ricotta for the cottage cheese. It tastes great with the cottage cheese, and frankly, ricotta is so much more expensive! I also mixed the cheeses together and stirred the mixture into the pasta, and then just layered twice with the sauce in between and on top. Next time I want to try adding the chopped spinach as another reviewer suggested - that's always a good combination.

This was delicious and easy to make. I used only mozarella (the only cheese I had on hand), and used a combo of ground turkey and ground beef. My family thought it came from a restaurant. This is a new addition to our family recipes!!!!

This was a delicious recipe! My husband said it was the best baked ziti he's ever had. I used ricotta rather than cottage cheese and both sliced and shredded mozzarella. I mixed all the cheeses and sour cream together instead of layering individually. Wonderful!
