Yum! The cottage cheese/sour cream combination is so much tastier than ricotta cheese. I also prefer to use only spicy italian sausage instead of ground beef. Everyone who has tasted this has asked for the recipe.

I used ricotta instead of cream cheese and it was amazing!! I make it all of the time whenever I have a week where I don't have time to cook because it makes so much!

I made this for my hubby and he loved it! All the different types of cheese work really well and make this dish moist & delicious - I'm making it again tomorrow night :)

Hands down, the best Ziti recipe I have ever made or eaten!! I have been making this recipe for years and kept meaning to add to the reviews. I use fat free sour cream and fat free ricotta cheese(instead of the cottage cheese). I have also used my own sauce for this recipe and found it to turn out equally delicious. The sour cream, ricotta (or cottage) cheese and provolone combination I think is what makes the difference, compared to other recipes. Definitely a family favorite.

I love this recipe and have been using it for years. It makes a bunch, so I cook half and freeze half for later. I omit the rosemary for personal taste, but other than that, I follow it to a T.

EVERYONE LOVED this! I had a large group that wiped the pan out!! I used two full jars of spaghetti sauce as other reviewers mentioned it being dry and I'm glad I did. I used ricotta instead of cottage and I tossed the cooked noodles in the sour cream to keep them moist. Also, I made this ahead of time and froze it for the busy day so as to not spend my "fun" day in the kitchen. In that case, I simply assembled the dish, froze, thawed, and baked as directed just before the meal was to be served. Worked like a charm!

This recipe is a family favorite! I've made it many times! I don't use any sausage in mine and I use 2 lbs. of ground beef. We like ours a little more meaty! This is a great meal when we are having company because it will feed about 8 people.

This is the best baked ziti I have made to date. I won't even bother looking for a better baked ziti recipe because this is excellent. Everyone loved it and asked to have it again.

This was really really good! It makes a lot of product so we used a huge aluminum lasagna pan, worked perfectly. We used 6 or 8 provolone slices total. Make sure you cover with foil while baking this! Next time I'll use ground Italian sausage instead of ground beef. Thanks for this!

Absolutely AMAZING! However, I did make some changes. I have tried many recipes for baked ziti and this will be my forever keeper! This is what I did, First I used the sause recipe from World's Best Lasagna from this site (using only 1 Tbsp. sugar and a huge Tbsp. fresh basil). Then, back to the Baked Ziti recipe, I added to my sauce the additional sauteed onions, garlic and FRESH rosemary also adding a tsp. freshly dried mint from my herb garden (The secret to REALLY GREAT sauce!). I mixed the cottage cheese with the sour cream and only used mozzarella cheese (personal preference). I finished by at least doubling the parmesan cheese and WOW! INCREDIBLE! This definitely puts and end to looking for the best Zita recipe! This is it!

Loved this! My parents were visiting and they loved it too - my mom got a copy of the recipe to make at my brothers. 1 change - I did not use the rosemary - the first time I made it my family thought it was too strong of a flavor.

OMG! This was fantastic! I made a few minor changes... first, I used a homemade pasta sauce instead of a jar ("Best Marinara Sauce Yet"- yummy! also from this site), and I added a little fresh oregano and fresh basil to the meat mixture. My boyfriend flipped over this meal!

This was pretty good, but I am Italian and I think I will stick with Ricotta cheese next time, Baked Ziti II looks more like my appeal, much more cheese. Although I do like the meat sauce it made.
