We had a few pears that were overly ripe, and I didn't want to make a pie (or go to the supermarket for any items). Came across this recipe, and adapted it to fit what I had. I had dried cranberries, so substituted those for the raisins and used Orange Juice instead of Apple. Also added some oatmeal, and it gave it such great flavor and texture. I upped the amount of cinnamon, and added nutmeg & ground ginger as well. So delicious and easy! Can really be made with whatever you have on hand!

I used this as a skeleton recipe and used several of the reviewer's tips. I omitted lemon, made a filling of oatmeal, dates, honey, brown sugar, and almonds. I had no apple juice so I used a Riesling wine. Amazing flavor! 3 pears filled a 9X13 pan. Baked for 40 mins.

I used the idea of this recipe and stuffed it with what my family loves best - "Fruit Crisp Topping Mix" from this site! it was so good. I followed the rest of the recipe as stated.

Excellent - a light and tasty ending to any meal. Instead of using butter, I just gave a quick spritz of Pam over the pears. They're good hot or cold.

Very good. The lemon was nice, but orange may have been good, too. I will try it next time. Also, I think it would be fabulous paired with vanilla ice cream, of which I had none. Again, next time!

My family really enjoyed this dessert but agreed that we will make it sweeter next time. The lemon came through more than the maple and brown sugar.

This is a great recipe. I didn't have any lemons so I used orange where it called for lemon and still came out great. I served with ice cream when the pears just came out of the oven and was a hit.
