this is a wonderful chicken recipe! the meat really did just fall off the bone. it was so tender and moist. i made a few changes though. after i cleaned out the chicken i stuffed a halved lemon, 4 garlic cloves, and some onion inside the bird. and i rubbed a mixture of butter salt pepper and paprica under the chicken skin. instead of the foil i used vegtables. potatoes, onion and carrots. i added chicken stock and white wine to the slow cooker too. then seasoned the chicken with salt pepper and paprica and thyme. it was amazing how good this was. some of the other reveiws said the chicken was dry, but i didn't have that problem, amybe it was the extra broth and white wine. but this chicken is awesome, you should definatly try it!!

As suggested, I stuffed it with crushed garlic and a lemon that I had quartered. First off, how inviting is it to come home at the end of a long day and smell a ready made delicious meal? It was so moist and delicious... but I have to say, next time I will put lemon, sliced onion and maybe a little garlic under the skin to really get that wonderful zingy flavor throughout the bird. There was soo much in the way of drippings, you'll have a giant pot of sauce or gravy... Far too much for one meal, even one as good as this. A true keeper!

I made this for my family before I went to class today. I put in on low for about 5 1/2 hours...boy was it ever dry. I will not make this again. I even put chicken broth in the bottom, onions and garlic in the cavity, and seasonings on top. my poor family choked it down. (at least the kids drank their milk!!) The reason I gave it 2 stars is because it was really nice coming home to a cooked meal and the leftover chicken will make a good soup/casserole

I felt this needed more spices than just paprika so next time I will add more and place an onion in the cavity. I skipped the hour on high and cooked my 3 1/2 lb. chicken on low for 7 hours and it was too done. It looked like it may have been done in 5 1/2.

I am on crutches for a few months and love to come up with simple recipes like this. The reviewers who are chopping garlic, onion, peeling carrots, smearing on a spice rub etc. must have more time on their hands. This recipe is perfect as it is for the time it takes to prepare, and also turned out very juicy. So my review is based on exactly as written. I am aware that my crockpot cooks faster so adjusted accordingly.

The chicken was a little drier than I expected. I cooked it 8 hours, and I think that's too much. I was also pretty surprised to open up the lid after I'd been gone all day to see the pot filled with grease. I put the potatoes, onions, and carrots in the bottom like others said, and they were very good.

What an easy recipe. I put all kinds of seasonings all over the chicken the night before and let it sit in the refrigerator. It tasted great. The chicken fell right off the bone. The skin does not get crunchy but we don't eat it. Next time, I think I will put seasonings under the skin so the flavor goes right into the meat. Great to use for leftovers.

This is such a great way to make chicken! I did mine breast down on the foil balls, and I rubbed it all over with garlic powder, seasoned salt and paprika (sprinkled some inside the cavity as well). High for an hour and low for 7; the breast was a tiny bit dry but everything else was nice and juicy. I used a 5 pounder. The house smelled great and I will definitely do this again--just as easy as picking up a grocery store rotisserie chicken! This is going to make awesome chicken salad.

This was amazing - tender, juicy and flavorful! The only change I made was to stuff the cavity with a large, chopped sweet onion and two crushed cloves of garlic. Also put a bit of garlic powder on with the paprika, salt and pepper - we really like garlic. Melt in your mouth and the house smelled marvelous when I came in from work. Thanks for the recipe.

Sorry but I cannot give this recipe a 5 star rating. I used a 3 lb whole chicken and took the skin off (suggestion on another member)and found that after 6 hours the chicken was very dry. I would cut the time almost in half and keep the skin on next time to keep the chicken moist. I was very disappointed in this recipe

I found the chicken to be a bit dry. I don't know if i would try this recipe again using some chicken broth, i'd be afriad of it evaporating too quickly, or over-saturating the chicken. It was VERY tasty though.

Stuffed cavity with onion and garlic and poured about 2 cups of chicken broth in the bottom of the crock pot. I did remove the skin and I think that did help with the flavor. Overall, it turned out pretty dry.

I used the foil ball idea. Instead of the whole chicken. I used 4 legs and thigh quarters split. I also pulled the skin off so the flavor would take over. oh i added garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, pepper, and seasoning salt. DH was surprised how tender it was. there was only 2 legs that I guess were a little to skinny because they were a little dry.Next time I wont cook for the whole 10 hrs.I am fortunate enough to have 2 crockpots. I cubed about 10 potatoes in my other one, melted a stick of butter, mixed with 1/4 bottle of ranch sauce and a chicken boullon cube. Poured that over the potatoes. OMG so good. It went very well with the chicken. Also made corn on the cob and biscuits. This fed 7 people easily.

I have never baked a chicken in my crockpot, but I will definitely try this one again. I used as my seasonings- basil, oregano, and some Mrs Dash. I cooked it one hr on high, and 9 hrs on low and it was great! I used the leftover chicken to make chicken and dumplings. Awesome! thanks for this recipe!

5 star method but to be truly delicious, this recipe needs more seasoning. Make a rub with salt and pepper by doubling the paprika, adding garlic powder and a pinch of cayenne, and few tsps of sugar to mimic caramelization on the skin. Throw an onion and some chopped celery in the cavity. Also, roast breast side down to keep the breast meat moist... you won't get the bird out in one piece anyhow so it doesn't really matter how it looks. Easy way to prepare a delicious chicken.
