FABULOUSLY easy and delicious!! I added potatoes to the bottom instead of foil. Stuffed the chicken with stove-top, rubbed it with poultry seasoning and garlic salt, and threw a few carrots on top. It fell off the bone, had to go picking through the veggies to get all the meat :) Everyone loved it!

I put this in before church and came home to a wonderfully tender chicken. I skipped the foil and put onions, carrots and potatoes on the bottom of the crock pot. Salt and peppered the chicken and put a quarter of an onion inside. Added half a cup of water. Set it on high and let it cook for four hours. When I got home, I put the chicken on a sheet pan and broiled it for some added color. Made gravy by removing the veggies and stirring in corn starch thinned with water. Divine!

This was utterly ridiculous in how good and easy it was. Just absolutely scrumptious! Cooked for eight hours and made exactly as described. My husband was thrilled! The only difference was I added garlic as one of the spices and used a 4.5 lb chicken. Thank you for a great recipe.

This is sooo easy and sooo good. The only thing I did different was put it in the oven for 15 minutes at 450 to sear it a little instead of the 1 hour on high in the crock pot - I didn't have time to wait that long. But, it turned out really good and my kids loved it too. :o)

Wonderful! I have used this as a base idea many times....added veggies, different/more spices, with/without potatoes, etc. Try this!

This was awesome. Cooked it exactly like it said to and it was the most tender chicken I have ever eaten. Delish! I added some other seasonings of course (garlic salt, pepper, etc) but that was just or our taste. Thanks for the awesome recipe! Who would of thought!

Fell off the bone--however, I slathered herb butter under the skin top and botton and it still did not have enough flavor. I stuffed a 4.5lb bird with s&p onion, celery, carrots and bay leaves. Loved the baking tecnique with the slow cooker but will have to adjust the seasoning next time.

I gave this 3 stars for ease to make, however the results weren't as good as I had hoped. My fiance, (who says everything I make is outstanding) had to make some sauce for this chicken to eat it. I wasn't terribly impressed too, it lacked flavor. I might try the crockpot and foil ball method again, but spice up teh sauce somehow.

This is an incredibly simple, yet very tasty recipe. Even though it was in the crockpot all day long, it somehow still had a golden brown color! The juices made excellent gravy, and the meat was so tender that the whole chicken broke apart into five pieces when I tried to take it out of the slow cooker. Thanks for sharing this recipe...it is a winner!

This chicken was quite a hit at dinner!! My picky kids ate it up. The chicken was very tender and juicy, and it actually fell right off the bone. Next time I make it, I will probably add some vegetables in the crockpot. Very, very simple but delicious recipe!

After reading the other reviews I get that there is a need to add some moisture to this recipe and got a good idea from those who didn't like it that they still need a little culinary training. I followed the recipe exactly, except I added some extra seasoning and for moisture added 3/4 cup of Vernor's Ginger Ale. It came out remarkably moist and very good flavor. Used the aluminum foil, which was a good idea to keep the chicken from sticking to the bottom of the slow cooker. Excellent recipe-gives the cook an opportunity for testing different taste combinations. Isn't that what its all about?

I did't use the foil, instead I used carrots. The chicken came out tender and juicy. We used the leftovers to make chicken noodle soup.

Of course I didn't follow the recipe exactly, well, really, besides the chicken! I stuffed the bird with oranges (which I usually do for my Thanksgiving turkey). The juice from the oranges makes the meat very tender and flavorful. I chopped garlic and onions and places them in the bottom of the slow cooker. Melted Butter over the top of the bird then seasoned with pepper, garlic salt, basil, etc. And roasted it for about 8 hours on low. AWESOME!

First thing I made in my crockpot I received as a wedding gift from my grandmother over a year ago. Wish I had listened to her sooner about how great a crockpot is with a young child! This turned out wonderfully. I added more spices and cooked it on a bed of potatoes and carrots with some onions. Stuffed onions and bellpeppers in the chicken with some fresh chopped garlic. I might try it as is next time but I don't know because it turned out so great! My husband and my toddler boy loved this. It was truly wonderful and thanks for sharing!

This just wasn't what I expected it to be. I think it was pretty bland and not even very juicy. I would rather just roast the chicken in the oven even though it's more maintenance.

Wonderful and so easy! I put a few cut onions and fresh garlic in the cavity on the bird and rubbed salt, pepper, paprika and poultry seasoning on the outside. Before I put the chicken in the slow cooker, I put some potatoes on the bottom (instead of the foil balls), then put the chicken on top of the potatoes. The potatoes and chicken were delish! There is no need to put chicken broth or any liquid in the slow cooker. The chicken makes plenty of juice.
