Tha family loved it! My husband had 2 servings and invited his friends to come try it. I did put potatos, onions and carrots at the bottom. I seasonned those too.The meat fell off the bone and it was so juicy.

Good but dry....I made a 6 plus pound whole chicken and the timing was way off. Mine was done and the timer popped at 5 hours....I did check the meat and sure enough it was done at 1pm. I did keep it in the crockpot on warm until we ate at 6pm....and I think that is what dried this out. The flavor was good....we just used up all the gravey I had made...lol...I will try this again and not start so early in the morning...and take it out as soon as its done. 8-10 hours was way off, either that or my crockpot is super hot. Will try again. Thanks.

Delicious!! Made this for dinner yesterday for my husband and step-son and they loved it! Their words were 'Excellent!' The chicken was very tender and juicy, and had the most wonderful flavor. I quartered potatoes, added celery stalks and baby carrots and the juices cooked them just great. *Footnote* I had about a 5 lb chicken, and initially I didn't take this into consideration for timing; we did eat much later than I had planned. :o)

This recipe was excellent. I had never cooked a whole chicken before. Instead of tin foil, I cut large carrots into thirds and put on the bottom of the crock pot, under the chicken. My teenage kids LOVED this chicken. In fact, they fought over who was having the leftovers. I'm off to the store to buy another chicken to make for tomorrow.

What an easy, yet rewarding recipe! I added a few more spices, added water w/ a cube of chicken boulin, about a cup of lemon juice,a few cloves of garlic, and stuffed the bird with a lemon I pierced with a fork. I was initially worried because the chicken was a 5 pounder and I only had 6 hours to cook, but when I took it out, the drumstick fell right off, and the breast was so tender and juicy! Made the house smell amazing! Something so delicious should not be so easy, but it is!

Great way to roast a whole chicken without fuss. Meat just falls off the bone which also makes this a great way to cook a chicken if you plan on making a soup or storing meat for recipes. The chicken is so moist and tender and you can really add any seasoning you like.

Great recipe! The chicken was moist and tender cooked as the recipe states. Adding veggies and potatoes is a good idea.

This was a wonderful slow cooker chicken! The chicken literally fell off the bones! Just be careful when eating that you remove all bones... especially for kids... those little chickens have tons of bones in them and when everything falls apart so easy, it's no wonder you might find a bone on your plate! So good, you should definitely try this recipe!

Moist, tender meat. The only thing lacking was an attractive presentation. Great for the family, but not the kind of beautiful presentation you'd want for company.

Added veggies as some of the other reviewers, some of which were more cooked than others but still tasty. The chicken itself was somewhat dry. The house smelled delicious though!

Wonderful recipe! My husband and adult son pretty much ate the entire chicken between them! Reviews were very helpful (thanks!). I used the aluminum foil balls. I added chicken broth and red wine to the bottom and replenished during cooking. I put several cloves of pan roasted garlic inside the chicken and added a chopped onion, a few chopped carrots and a few chopped celery stocks to the wine/broth. I rubbed the chicken with paprika and Mrs. Dash garlic mix. I cooked on high about two hours and then low about five hours. It was very most but I could tell it would've started to go dry if I had let it go longer. Next time only one hour on high. Also I flipped it three times. Don't know if this helped or not since I'd not made it before but the end result was certainly delicious! I strained some of the juice through cheese cloth and whisked it with some cornstarch for YUMMY gravy! Served with green beans and garlic mashed potatoes and it was a HIT. After carving the chicken, I threw the remains back in the pot, covered with water, and cooked overnight for a WONDERFUL homemade broth! Love this recipe! I don't know what the reviewer who gave it one star was talking about? The recipe clearly calls for a whole chicken. That review ought to be removed.

Made changes as did lots of the reviewers. Didn't use foil, just potatoes, onions and carrots. Added a can of low-sodium chicken broth and stuffed some extra onion in the chicken. Cooked on low for eight hours and it was perfect. Made it like four times in a month.

This recipe was good. I followed the other reviewers suggestions. I had a hard time taking it out of the slow cooker because it fell off the bone. I was able to get three meals out of it and there was hardly any work.

This probably could be very good, but I would suggest that the first time you make it, do it on a day when you'll be home so you can check on it. The recipe says to cook for 9 to 11 hours, but I checked mine after 4.5 hours and it was thoroughly done -- overdone, in fact. The white meat was very dry though I cooked it upside down, and even the dark meat was much drier than I would have expected. It's a great idea and I'll probably try it again, but keep in mind that slow cookers vary wildly and you may need to adjust your cooking time.

Great recipe. Cut up a few potatoes and onion, added salt and pepper, and put them in the bottom of the pan. Added butter under the skin of the chicken. Seasoned it with italien seasonings, garlic powder, parsley, salt and pepper. Cooked on HIGH for 4 hours. It presented beautifully on a platter with the potatoes all around. Very tender, tasted great!

This was pretty good. I did the foil balls, and used salt and pepper. However I didn't think that would be enough so I added some onion, thyme, and a bay leaf and 1/2 cup of water with some chicken bouillon. Cooked on high for just over an hour and then I turned it down to low for 6 hours. It was tender and tasted good. Thanks for the recipe, I'll make this again soon.
