I recently found out that I like Potato Soup, so when I saw the rave reviews on this one, I decided to try it. I'm so glad I did! I doubled the recipe and followed it to the tee, except I did follow one reviewers suggestion of more flour because I do like thicker soup. It was absolutely delicious!! Will definitely make it again!

This soup had a nice taste, but the texture was too thin for my taste.

What a fabulous recipe! I made it this afternoon, with a few suggestions from other reviewers, like boiling the potatos in the broth and I added some shredded cheese when I added the rue to the boiled potatos. Thick and filling. Will be taking leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

This was awesome. I did change a few things. I boiled the potatoes in the chicken broth. While I doubled recipe, I only added 1/2 cup of the half & half cream. This was a thick & creamy soup, not thin at all!! My husband absolutely loved it. I will defiantly make this again. Very Good!!!!

My family loved it!!! I didnt have any half and half so i substituted a melted block of cream chesse. I did have to leave out the hot sauce because my father in law cant eat spicy foods, but i cant wait to make it again with the hot sauce. I am a big meat eater and as just a random suggestion that might end well is adding bbq pulled pork to the top when finished. I will be trying that as well. All in all this desverves 5 stars!!!

Really good! I used Frank's hot sauce, doubled the recipe everywhere else. I did not add onions as my son doesn't like them, so I doubled up on what the recipe called for garlic. I didn't have basil so I used a bit of oregano and a bit of tarragon. Very good!

I love the idea of this recipe, but unfortunately the flavour and texture just didn't do it for me. It tasted like chicken stock with cream - I may try again with an increased amount of hot sauce, but I won't be going out my way to try. A real shame given how many glowing reviews this recipe's had, but I followed the ingredients and method to the letter; but it just wasn't for me.

This is a good and quick recipe. The only change I made was to use real bacon bits from a package instead of frying out uncooked bacon. This saved alot of valuable, after-work time. I've made several times and my husband love it!

Fantastic ...describes this baked potatoe soup. For those who do not baked their potatoes first, are missing out on the whole idea of "Baked Potatoe" soup and the fantastic taste those bake potatoes offer.

Soup was good, but wish I would have read a few more of the reviews. Will definitely cut the basil in half next time I make it. I used regular milk instead of half and half to cut down on the calories and was still very tasty.

I used 4 cups of broth, 3 potatoes, and 1 1/2 cups of half and half. It's a great recipe. I didn't give it 4 stars because I didn't make the "original" recipe. Yummy!

I hate when I try a recipe on allrecipes that is so highly rated but then tastes terrible. I followed the directions exactly and no one in my family liked this potato soup at all. The basil was over powering and there was not enough of a potato taste. It just tasted like chicken broth with cream and basil. I threw the whole pot out.

Can't explain it but it's not 5 star. What's not to love? It's got all my favorite stuff, but wasn't what I expected. I love basil so I don't think that's it. Maybe it's cooking the onions & garlic in the bacon grease. It was good but not great.

Even though I forgot to bake my potatoes, this turned out great. I peeled and diced my raw potatoes and cooked the soup until the potatoes were tender. As with most soups, this was even better the next day.

I was looking for a simple yet delicious Potato Soup and this fit the profile. I did not have bacon so I decided to try Sausage. I used 1/5 lb of sausage in place of bacon. My husband and I really enjoyed this potato soup and the fact that it did not call for tons of cream. We were running low on half and half so I compiled my cup of cream from half and half, sour cream and skim milk. Delicious!

This soup was so delicious that even though I doubled it and only my husband and I were eating it, we ate the leftovers for 6 various meals, be they lunch or dinner. My husband doesn't normally like leftovers, so this was huge! One thing I did differently was becuase my husband doesn't like onions, I used half of an onion and some potatoes and pureed them together, then added them to the soup. I think pureeing some potatoes in the soup adds a little density to the soup that is otherwise lacking.
