I liked this recipe, though I changed a lot of little things to suite my taste. The final product turned out great! Here's what I did different: I choose to make mine vegetarian, so I sauteed the onions with minced garlic and Morningstar Farms fake bacon. I used my blender to puree half of the potatoes and onion mixture, and then mixed that in with the diced mixture. I also added a few bay leaves for extra flavor while the potatoes boiled (and I added celery) in the broth (3 cups vegetable broth plus about 1/4 cup water and a vegetable bouillon cube). I also used a combination of arrow root and white flour to get it to a good consistency, totaling about 4 TBSP. I would also recommend to add the cream last with a heaping cup of cheddar cheese and let it simmer for a while. I thought the hot sauce really helped the recipe have flavor, but also added a dash of crushed red pepper and paprika to give it some depth. When I had simmered it together for a few hours I topped it off with some fresh green onions. Yum!
