I followed the advice of some of the other reviewers and breaded the meat first. Everyone said it was one of the best stews they ever had. It did seem like a lot more work than a pot or slow cooker stew though.

Great stew, I also doubled the water and the tapioca and added a packet of onion soup mix. It gave it more flavour.

Pretty good, stew meat can get a little dry since you don't brown it first to seal in the juices. Very easy to make...I added Worcestershire.

Very good recipe. I substituted green onions for yellow onion and used worcestershire sauce. Very tasty and easy.

LOVED IT! Simple, quick & easy! I did double the vegetables and the liquids using the can of tomatoes, water, and a can of beef broth along with a splash of wine & soy sauce. It helped to temper the tomato taste. I also browned the beef first.....

I cooked this on the stove top and did extra sauce and gave some to a couple friends who called me up and said it was the best stew they have ever had. Not a bad review and I liked it too.

This has all the pieces of beef stew but beef stew it is not. It lacks heartiness and beef flavor while to long in the tomato department.

I thought it was great and very fast to prepare. I doubled the water and tapioca and added 1 packet of dry onion soup mix. Also added more veggies so we'd have leftovers.

Because I am "Cooking Challeneged" I couldn't figure out how the starch-like Tapioca I was supposed to use was different from the pudding mix. So I read up on it and I realized I could substitute cornstarch for the tapioca, but only use HALF the cornstarch for what you'd need in the tapioca. After having my 1st bowl of the recipe, I'm not sure if the sauce was supposed to be thicker...but I believe the cornstarch worked. This is one of the first big meals I've made. Also make sure to have the MEAT especially be under the sauce or as close as possible. Some of my pieces of meat were on top and are really tough. But I really like the recipe!!!

You can leave salt out if you'd like. It has enough flavor without it.

I made this recipe a couple of days ago and it was a flop. It tasted like tomatoes, instead of beef stew.
