This recipe only gets 4 stars from me because I also followed GOURMETMOMMY & beebeebaker's advice and made the same changes to the ingredients. However, my oven cooks cooler so I did adjust the temp up to 375. Yummy! If you like your lemon bars tart like I do, don't make this recipe exactly like it says, go to beebeebaker's review for instructions.

These were delicious - the perfect lemon bars. Watch your oven closely though, mine tends to run hot and the sides were browned a bit much for my taste.

I think these came out all right. I follow other viewers suggestion and doubled the dough and filling. I think doubling the dough was just too much. It came out good but theres so but dough on the bottom it takes away the flavor of the lemon. I like lemon desserts tart and this didnt cut it. Maybe I will make these again with normal dough recipe but double the filling.

Like so many others, i used gourmetmommy suggestions and doubled the flour, eggs and increased the lemon to 1 cup and upped the sugar just a bit... they came out great! I dont like my lemon bars super sweet, so for me, this is THE recipe!

I made these almost the same way except I wanted thick ones so I just doubled the filling and I didnt make the crust listed I just made some graham cracker crust and then after pressing it into a 8x11 pan I poured the doubled filling over it then sprinkled graham cracker crust on top but not entire covering it. After it back I dusted with powdered sugar-Yummo~!

These were ok per the recipe but I put the crust in the oven at 375 and set the timer for 20 min. My oven is usually right on for most recipes but these were very brown. I also had to take them out early after baking the topping. They just browned to quickly. The edges were very brown and hard. I would make again but reduce the oven temp to 350 and reduce baking time.

Very good in taste and easy to make, but next time will double the lemon filling because I only made half the recipe and they came out a little flat

I'm giving gourmetmommy's edition a 5 as I prefer more tart (and this is definitely the tartiest of the tart) than sweet in my lemon bars. This was a great recipe!

So great! Tart was what I was going for so I did take the famous GourmetMommy's tips and quadruple the lemon, double eggs & flour and slightly up the sugar. Quite satisfying, indeed! Thanks Elaine for the original recipe and GourmetMommy for kickin' it up a notch!

Yummy! I used the shortbread crust recipe suggested by another reviewer. It had good flavor to it. I also used extra large eggs, 1T extra flour, and used 1/2c of lemon because many reviewers said it was too sweet but also wanted to avoid a sour lemon taste. I set my oven to 350. The crust and the lemon layer took longer to bake than directed at this temp. I have been craving lemon and this hit the spot. Thanks.

I only used 1 cup of sugar in the filling, and the bars turned out quite tasty. 1.5 cups would have been too much. I also added the zest of one lemon to the filling. Baked at 325. Other reviewers have said that there isn't enough of both the crust and the filling, and I half agree. Next time I will double the filling, but I liked the thin crust that the original recipe yielded. The only other thing to note: GREASE YOUR PAN GENEROUSLY. OVERDO IT IF YOU MUST. While my bars came out tasting good, it was disastrous trying to get it out of the pan (I had greased minimally to reduce what little fat content I could)! So go ahead and slather on the butter or spray before baking!!

Out of this world! Everyone loved it. No left overs. Need to make double the batch next time. Very Lemony, also added extra lemon extract to every part to get a stronger lemon flavor. YUMMY!

Loved them! These are beautiful lemon bars and I'm hard to please. I did add the zest of 2 lemons to the filling. It really helps them taste more lemon-y without messing up the ratio of ingredients. The filling had just the right texture. Thank you!
