These little guys are great! People really seemed to enjoy them for the most part! Very simple recipe, too. I added about 1/4 cup extra brown sugar and put it on just before popping them in the oven. I also wrapped a few sausages with extra bacon (just to see...) and they were extra good! If you choose to do the extra bacon bit, I'd follow the advice of a fellow reviewer and consider crisping the bacon up under the broiler for a minute or so (like she said, beware of flaming toothpicks!!!!! :D).

These really are like meat candy. So easy to prepare, just make sure to watch them so they don't burn. I always have to make a double batch because they get eaten fast!

This takes quiet a bit of time, but they do turn out good. I like by bacon crispy so I may try baking on a cookie sheet next time.

I made these for my family's Christmas Eve party last year, and they were gone in minutes. I was asked to make them again this year. I only cut the bacon in half, and dredge both the smoky and the bacon in brown sugar, then wrap the smoky and stick a toothpick through. When all are wrapped, I put them all in a ziploc with any remaining sugar or any syrup that was made while they were being prepared and let them marinade in the refrigerator all night. Then an hour before I need them I put them on a foil lined baking sheet and sprinkle them with more brown sugar. I bake them at 400 degrees for 15 minutes, then take them out and flip them over and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Then I put them in the crock pot. I add 1/4 cup pancake syrup to the sugary stuff in the pan and pour that over the smokies in the crock pot. Then when I get to the party, I keep the crock pot on low until they're gone. *** Small Update: I got a George Foreman grill for Christmas. We had some of these left over this year. My husband took them and put them on the George Foreman to heat them up yesterday, and it just slightly caramelized the sugars and gave them a wonderful taste and texture. We will definitely remember that when it's time to make them next year!

These are so yummy! Since I don't eat beef, I used pork smokies that had cheese in them. They went grrrreat with the bacon and I even dipped mine in ranch! :]

Always a hit! The crock pot made them kind of black though so next time I'm going to take the other readers suggestion of baking them on a baking rack to keep them from burning.

I have been making these for years and I never seem to have enough. I have dinner parties for my husband and his soldiers. The last time I made them we made over a hundred and gone in a blink. I cut the bacon in thirds, wrap little smokies, put the wrap side down in the pan. We them cover them with brown sugar and refrigerate over night. They get crispy in the over at 375 for about 15 minutes and serve with tooth pics. We are not allowed to have a party with out the.

I made these for my sons wedding reception. I added a slice of jalapeno between the lil smokie and the brown sugar bacon. They are wonderful. This recipe has so many things you can change in it. Pineapple chunks, spiced nuts, on and on this list goes. Like stated before.. worth it!!

These are great appetizers. For something a little different, try mixing 1/4 teaspoon of chili powder or cayenne pepper with the brown sugar then coating the lil smokies. It adds a tasty little kick!

i serve these every year at my office open house. I am requested to give the recipe by several people each year. I fix them exactly as the recipe reads. I might add that bacon comes in 12 ounce packages nowadays and not a pound. I usually double the recipe every time I fix them because they go quickly!!

I love these! My husband thinks they are a little to sweet though. Everytime I make them they are gone fast. They are time consuming, but once you start it goes pretty fast. I make them and then put them in the crockpot on warm and serve like that.

As far as really bad for you, really tasty appetizers go this is 5 stars! We really liked these. I did cook these a little longer than stated just because we like crispy bacon. Turned them half way through too so they would be crisp all over. Thanks for the recipe. Oh and I've never like 'lil smokies before these. I actually made them for my husband and I ended up eating just as many as he did. Yum.
