Have prepared these for numerous events and have yet to find anyone who does not like them. They are always the first to go. In fact, I typically do not like bacon or sausage but am quite fond of these little bites. I have found that rolling each one around in the brown sugar, then sprinkling more brown sugar over them before baking really does the trick! I have never secured with a toothpick--no problems. Also, have never put in a crockpot; they're delicious at room temp!

I have used this recipe for about a year the only thing wrong is you never make enough !!!!! I always double this recipe. ~ I have found if you cook the bacon in the microwave a couple minutes before wrapping it around the sausages it cuts down on the cooking time in the oven ~ and the sausages are not dried out. This recipe is the BOMB Thanks PS you can also keep them warm in a crock pot for hours and they are still delic.

Quickly eaten by all my guests. We like the name "pig candy" suggested by another reviewer. Very appropriate. I would put the brown sugar between the bacon and the frank. Also, put these on a cooling rack over a foil wrapped pan. Saves trying to turn them when they are so hot.

I've made these twice - the first time, after reading the reviews, I really loaded up the brown sugar, and didn't much care for them - way too sweet. Second time I just dredged my bacon in brown sugar, then lightly sprinkled with brown sugar before putting in the oven. They were perfect - had just enough brown sugar to "crunch up" the bacon - they were gone in just a few minutes!

These are officially called "Meat Candy" at our parties! This couldn't be any easier and they are a huge hit, especially with men. They are nice to serve as well since you can make them a few hours in advance, toss them in the Crock-Pot and they just get better. Also, the toothpicks make them really easy for people to just reach in and grab one. We have also made these at night and instead of tossing them in the Crock-Pot after the oven we just refrigerate them in a small foil tray and our hubbies have brought them down to tailgate with and just put the foil tray directly on the grill and let them warm up. They are a favorite for tailgating now!

Wow- these were excellent. I only made one batch and it was gone in no time. I will make more next time! I didn't measure the brown sugar, just dumped a good amount all over once assembled. I did use toothpicks but I don't think they are really necessary. Another review mentioned broiling these at the very end to make more crispy. I tried that and that was a huge mistake. I ended up burning them. Lesson learned there. Once done I put them all in a crock pot, juices and all. My husband and son loved them! Can't wait to make again!!

These were delcious and easy to make too. The bacon wrapping was a little tedious, but not horrible. I doubled the recipe and baked on a jelly roll pan. This was enough to fill up my crockpot.

This recipe makes a lot, but we had NO leftovers! They were easy to make and delicious! I was afraid that they would have an awfully strong "meaty" taste, but the brown sugar worked so well with that! Thanks for sharing.

We were SO looking forward to trying these. I mean...you can't go wrong with bacon, sausages and brown sugar, right? Eh, wrong. I was hoping for that great salty/sweet combo, but all we got was the sweet part, with crunchy hard set brown sugar and UBER grease. There are so many variables in making these, perhaps we just didn't have it 'right'. I used our favorite bacon and some good smokies and this still went uneaten on New Years Eve. Even my husband who eats anything only had 2 and walked away. It was the only thing uneaten on our buffet for 50 people, so my husband and I weren't the ONLY ones who didn't like them.

I personally didn't love these, but I'm giving it 5 stars anyway because my guests sure loved them! This was the only thing that was totally eaten at our party tonight. Although it takes a little time to wrap and bake, they were easy to make and everyone thought they were delicious. Per the suggestions in the other comments, I turned up the heat for the last 15 minutes (then broiled for a couple of minutes) to get my bacon crispier. I hate chewy bacon!

I have a major complaint - now my family threatens not to come over unless I make these things! The nerve! Seriously, they are majorly delicious. I roll the smokies in real maple syrup before rolling in brown sugar, but they're also excellent without it. My family and friends devoured the last batch so fast that I only got one :(
