Wasn't a very big fan of these. The idea seemed great, but I found that the bacon didn't do too much to flavor the potatoes. The onions were good though. I precooked a little bit by stabbing the potatoes w/ a fork and placing the potatoes in the microwave for 3 minutes. When I cut the potatoes in half, I spread butter, garlic powder, and salt and pepper then topped w/ the onions. Wrapped in bacon and covered tightly with aluminum foil and placed on the grill for about 40 minutes. All in all, my friends weren't very impressed and neither was I.

I followed the recipe exactly. It was good but not great. I will use this again but I will change it a little next time to add more flavor.

very good, will make again! i took some suggestions from other reviews... i poked holes in the potato to absorb the bacon juices. i also pre cooked the bacon just a little to make sure it cooked all the way in the oven. then i spread fresh garlic butter inside the potato before i put the onions on! topped with sour cream and scarfed it down! :)

I haven't made these potatoes, per se, but I have done something very similar. My suggestion to anyone who says there isn't any flavor would be to poke holes all around your potato, rub olive oil or melted butter on the outside skins, then wrap it up with bacon (you can do the onion in the middle, too). That way, the juices from the bacon soak into the potato. Wrap it up with foil, put in the oven or on the grill, and it should taste even more yummy! (We get our bacon from a local farm. If you can get bacon straight from the farm without all the additives, with thick slices [aka, lots of fat juices], you'll be in dog heaven with these potatoes wrapped in them! Mmmm!)

i tried the recipe as written and served it with sour cream and did not like it. the onions didnt cook up very well and the bacon didnt add much flavor. i love baked potatoes so i decided to give this another try. this time i layered the onions in and then seasoned the inside of the potatoes with salt, pepper, garlic salt and put in a thin slice of butter. i cooked these wrapped in foil and then at the end opened them up and broiled it to crisp up the bacon. this time they tasted awesome because the potatoes were allowed to cook in their own juices and the onions were nice and tender!

One word. YUM! I saw these the other day on the 'exchange' here, and they taste great. The only different thing I did was added a little minced garlic [I have in a jar] with some salt and pepper. Wrapped it in foil and threw it on the grill. Nice.

Mr. LTH deemed these the "best baked potatoes he's ever eaten"...seeing as how baked potatoes are one of his favorite foods, that's strong praise! I nuked the potatoes for 3 minutes first, the stuffed, wrapped, and grilled them for 30-40 minutes. Next time (yes, there WILL be a next time, prob tomorrow!), I will nuke the bacon a few minutes first, too. TY for a great spin on boring baked potatoes!

The filler idea was good, but I thought the bacon was misplaced.

I wanted to make something different with my potatoes other than "just baked". This was an excellent choice. I wrapped each one in aluminum foil (without the toothpick) and put them on the top shelf of the grill while I cooked the chicken. They were done in about 50 minutes....and to perfection!!! Very yummy to everyone!!

We had an idea to do something on the grill so I pulled this up, it worked great I covered them in tin foil then cooked slowly on the grill. Afterwards we added pepper, butter & sour cream. I have to say we loved them!
