These were fantastic and very flavorful. I made these per the recipe except for 3 things: 1) I don't have a grill so I cooked them with some olive oil in a flat pan (I think it's called a griddle pan?), 2) I sauteed a red onion to put on top of the burgers, 3) I salt & peppered each side of the patties. Next time I will try some garlic, not because I think it needs it, but because I love garlic.

These were the best darn burgers ever. I even mke them all the time without the bacon. The only thing I added was a packet of ranch and a packet of beef/onion soup mix. They are always perfect.

My husband can be a little hard to please at times, but does love these burgers. As suggested by others, I do leave the egg out to keep it tasting a little less like meatloaf, also added 1 tsp spicy steak seasoning and 1/2 tsp garlic powder to suit our tastes. Great recipe - thanks!

These were terrific! We truly enjoyed them. I did pre-cook the bacon first until it just began browning and it cooked perfectly.

I made these for my husband and I also chopped the bacon and put it in the meat instead. They didn't stick together real well but with extra care it works. Next time I won't put shredded cheese in because it didn't add much and my husband smothers his with cheese anyway. Thanks for the recipe!

A truly excellent take on the standard burger-on-a-grill. I won't bother with the telling you what I added or subtracted... most grillers have their own "special" ingredients that they swear by... I'll mention two things that seem to be a recurring theme. One is cooking the bacon and the burger together. This is caused by the thickness of the bacon, and the heat of the grill. If you're using standard grocery-store bacon, then you're probably fine with a high-heat grill; however, if you're working with a thick slab bacon, you might want to slightly lower the grill temperature and give the burger time to catch up with the bacon... The other issue is how the burgers hold up on the grill., and this is partially due to the binding proteins in the egg. If you're following the recipe and using 1 lb of hamburger, then only use 1/2 an egg. Once you've got it mixed in, form into patties, and let rest (covered) in the refrigerator for at least an hour... longer, if you have the time. Even so, they're still a bit tender on the grill, so make sure that you preheat the grill, then scrape the grill with a wire brush. Finally, put some veggie oil on a paper towel, and rub down the grill, just before cooking. This should keep the grill slick, and reduce the chance of them breaking apart. With the exception of reducing the egg by 1/2, I would strongly recommend that you try this recipe, as written. Even if you're not of fan of onions, you just might be surprised at what you taste... keep the

Very good. A little on the "rich" side but good. Made them exactly as recipe called for but didn't use the bacon. (didn't have any in the house) I even made up extra ones and have them in the freezer.

Very good! I didn't think I had toothpicks so I didn't get to do the bacon. I also added BBQ sauce instead of ketchup. The only thing is that a couple of them fell apart on the grill because of the cheese I guess.

AWESOME!!!! I made them small, and put them on hawaiian bread, kinda the size of a white castle. THEY WERE THE BEST EVER!!!!! (Make sure you use a less fatty meat though, like ground round. I made them with it and they were excellent. My friend used ground chuck, and they were really greasy.) Thank you!!
